My father was Robert Lee Davis, mother was Elizabeth. His cousin was Leon Yokley and I believe Elizabeth was Leons' sister. I was told that my fathers mother or grandmother on his mothers side was French, but I cannot find anything. My dad was born in Chattanoga, TN in 1926. His mother died early and he was left on his own at an early age. He had a brother named Jesse that died as a young child but no other siblings. My dad Robert died in California in 1973. I hope this helps and you will share any information you may find.
Good Luck

Hi Jenny,
I posted on ancestry.com about Yokely Yokley and I would like to see if there is any connection between us.
Yokely could be spelled Yokely Yokley Yoakley and if you go back to the German spelling it is Jockely with two little dots over the o. I am not sure about Giles, I know there is alot of Yokely's from Giles,Tn. Most of the Yokely's that I know are from Chattanooga, TN. but that is because I have not been able to trace my grand father Leon Yokely's family
any where.
Leon Yokely b. 1903 d. 1942
He married Viola (Howard) Yokely
They had two children
Bonnie Yokely Frank Yokely
Frank Yokely is my Dad.
I did come across one person that I thought could of been related to me in Giles Tn. but never received an answer back from them. That is the problem people move or change there e-mail that is what happen to me so I never received in follow up till now when I tried to find Yokely name again
but any messages that I recieved in 2000 I didnt get because of e-mail address.
If any of this information sounds familar to you please
let me know and we could figure out together if we are of the same line.
Black Dutch just means that when the Catholic's split from
England and those that didn't stay to be Catholic they called them black Dutch.
Yokely comes from Scottland, Irish, German. As far as I know
that is what I have figured out from the postings on
ancestry.com that matched my family line.
I am anxious to hear from you.
Thanks
Dayle

Hi Dayle,
My name is Lonny Porter. Perhaps your Porter line and mine cross at some point. My great-grandfather was DeValance Porter (Fannin CO., Tx), son of Rezin S. Porter (Logan Co., KY), son of James Porter (Trigg Co., KY), son of Rezin Porter. If any of these names are common with you, please contact me.
