All became Yohe

Johan Jerg Joh arrived 10/5/1737 on the "Townsend" Johann Adam Joh, Johann Jacob Joh (brothers), Johann Michel Joh (cousin) arrived 9/2/1749 on the "Albany"
Michael Joh b1746 or 47 arrived 10/26/1754 with his mother on "Mary & Sarah"
All had their names changed to YOH and then YOHE.
Question: Were there any other arrivals from Germany to add to the confusion and does anyone have definitive proof of who fathered Jacob Yoh/Yohe 1755-1829?

I have been doing research re: Johan Georg Johe, when I came across a message on the boards with the spelling of Joahn Jerg Yoh. In so doing, I found your message with the spelling Johan Jerg Joh.I am a descendant as follows: 1.Johan Jerg Yoh 2.James Yoes 3.John Yoes 4.John C. Yoes 5.Oscar Quitman Yoes 6.Odis Carl Yoes 7. Charlie Quitman Yoes and 8. me...Anna (Yoes/Castleberry) Vaughn. I have been trying to determine the information on Johan Jerg Yoh, regarding the port of entry of immigration, and the data concerning his place and date of birth and all of the other essentials...If you have any other info to share, I would greatly appreciate a reply. Perhaps I have some info that you need. Looking forward to hearing from you in this regard. Thank you Anna(Yoes)Vaughn

Anna: Strange how the name took different spellings but the original was JOH and pronounced Yoh. The following is what I have on Johan Jerg (George) Joh: born About 1720 in or near the Wirtemberg area of Erbach (now Germany) Arrived in America on the ship TOWNSEND from Amsterdam, Thomas Thompson Master at Philadelphia October 5,1737. Died 1782 Windsor Twp. Berk Co. Pa. Wife Elizabeth Shoemaker: b ?, Died August 6,1788
Where you might help me is beside sons James and Jacob, do you have birth dates and other children to this couple? I still lack definitive proof of my connection to old Johan Jerg but I'm about 90% sure he was my 5thGreat grandparent.

Hi,
You wrote about the two brothers and their cousin emigrating to America..... do you have their parents?
I have right now three different Joh-linages....my own one is
Johann Andreas, father of Johann Baltasar (1704-1756), father of Johann Andreas (born 1731, m. 23.7.1751 Maria Margaretha Stech) and am trying to find the missing links!
Regards from Mexico
Michael

Johann Adam & Johann Jacob's father was Hans George Joh 1693-? M Anna Margretha Ulrich. Johann Michel's father was Hans George's brother. Their father was Hans Joh 1657-1730 M Christina Scheuerman 1656-1723 . Homeland was Beerfelden Parish in Erbach (Germany). Interesting that the line extends into Mexico. Hasta la vista.

Hello Gary,
Do not have "your" Johs in my list.
My direct line First Found Ancestor is Johann Andreas Joh, father of Johann Baltasar Joh who was born in 1704.
Check http://www.prodigyweb.net.mx/mroek/personal/
139 Johs! And still a lot missing ;-)
I just came 5 years ago from Germany to Mexico.
My Grandma was a JOH!
BTW: I guess the "Ulrich" surname should be Urich/Urig.... there were a lot around in that area!

I would be interested in learning the information you have for Jacob. I believe one of his sons is Benjamin George Yohe who married Mary Woods. I am also tracking this line from Benjamin George-his father Jacob and I believe his father Michael Yohe and his father Johan Jerg (George) Joh. There are so many trees out there that have Johan Jerg arriving in the U.S. in 1737 from Germany and then say that he married Elizabeth Shoemaker in 1747 in Germany (which I believe has to be Pennsylvania). Is there a copy of his will somewhere that I can view?
