Dear Jennifer,
I just happened to come across your message. I am not postive but there is a Morrie Yohai in New York and he is on the board of directors of Sephardic House. I also believe his mother's name was Mary and his father's name Robert.

Log on to http://sephardichouse.com

I am sure you will be able to contact him and continue with your search.

Drop me a line some time and I will share some interesting things I found on the internet concerning dates of arrival at Ellis Island.

Good luck,

Oscar Yohai

Dear Oscar and Jennifer,

My father's name was Arthur Yohai, (Born 1919) originally Oscar! His father was Nachman Yohai, of New York City. I am interested in our family genealogy and wonder if there are threads among us?

Sincerely,
RYA

Dear Bev,

I believe my grandfather, Nachman, had a brother, Morris, and two sisters, Luna and Clara. He came from Turkey and lived at first on the lower East side circa 1916. Perhaps we are related?

Sincerely,
RYA

My Mother is a Yohai and my father is 5th cousin of my mother so my dads mothers maiden name was Yohai too. Amazing what you find ha?. keep in touch and maybve we can find more and dig more into our families. who knows, we could be twins. lol.

Hi Kenneth:

I saw your entry on ancestry.com. I went there because my sister Judy noticed an article regarding a Morris Yohai from Turkey who had invented the Cheese Doodle and he recently died.

I found your posting:
"My maternal Grandmother was born Rachel Yohai in Galipoli, Turkey in 1889 and immigrated to The US (New York) in 1906 with her Parents and Grandparents and Sister, Rosie, and Brother, Gabriel. My grandfather was Gabriel Yohai, born in Galipoli, Turkey and he had a sister Rose. I did not know about a Rachel, but it seems too coincidental that we are not related. My grandmother was Dora Castro from Salonika. I know that there was Altchek and Abravanel in our family tree too.

Looking forward to hearing more about potential family members.
