From what I am reading here and seeing on various trees on Ancestry.com, I think it possible that at least some Yoeys are descended from one of four Yohes who immigrated to Easton, Pennsylvania from Gammelsbach, Germany -- three of them in 1749 and the fourth in 1754. I see names, dates, and places that almost match. My immigrant ancestor, Michael (1746-1832) took his family to Washington County, PA in about 1795, and many of his grandchildren were born and baptized there. Several of his children took their families to Ohio -- one to Stark County, two or three to Wayne County -- between 1810 and 1820. I know that at least a couple of his grandchildren went on to Indiana, and I know that at least one of them added a 'y' at the end of the name to make it Yohey. It would be interesting to see whether there is, in fact, a connection here.
