I am rarely speechless, but now is one of those times. Every once in a while a do a Google search on the name "Yoepp". This time i was stunned to find this site and the 28 August entry by Sandy Yerk containing the names of my grandmother, grandfather, father, aunts and uncles. This is especially haunting because 20 October is the one-year anniversary of my father Herman's death.

I don't really understand what this site is about and how it's organized and whether or not this post will go to the right place. I think this should be a Biography entry.

My name is John Herman Yoepp. My father was Herman Yoepp, son of Julius and Catherine. I live in Melbourne, Florida. My sister Theresa lives in Boca Raton, Florida. I'm 52 years old (born June 1, 1951), she's 56 (born June 11, 1947). I have two children, Jason Louis Yoepp (born Feb 16, 1978) and Jan Heather Yoepp (born July 29, 1982). My sister and i were born in New York City, in the Arverne section of Queens County. My children were born in Florida.

I am researching a Louis Kress in my family married to an Agnes - possibily Agnes Yoepp.

They had a daughter Viola and a son Louis (others ???)

This would have been in the NYC area, possibly Long Island.

Louis born about 1916. Viola would be my second cousin
Mike

PS - please reply via email, I don't now if I will find my way back here. Thanks.

Yoepp originally came from Joepp/Jopp - due to German pronunciation, our family originally came from Germany. My family decends from John Leopold Yoepp & Mary Reuter b. early 1800s and traveled over here in the 1860s due to financial and political pressure. Our line originated in the Kassel region.

So that means we're actually cousins? Was your mother known as Chippie, Lillian, Dorothy or Butzel?

Your grandmother would have been Catherine Yoepp m. to William Denis. My grandmother was Lillian Yoepp, (she married Frank Stolba) and her and Catherine and Agnes were all sisters.

In fact there were 12 siblings in all. How is your mother? Ask her if she remembers Lillian Stolba (m. Charlie Yerk), she went by Sissy as a child - that would be my mother.

You said you are originally from LI - so are we, now in Florida. You can email me at chase128 at hughes.net

I'll have to take a line from John Yoepp, positively stunned! Couldn't believe actually found someone from the Yoepp side of the family.

You didn't say how your mom is doing. Mom will be so tickled to hear about your mom. I can't say that I've gotten very far in family history but would love to share whatever I have with you.
