I am working on my husband's family. His gggrandmother, Celia Melvina Yoast was the dau. of George Carmichael Yoast and Barbara Ann Yoast. George's father was Andrew J. and Barbara's father was John (brothers) So, George and Barbara were first cousins. I can go back to Francis, father of Andrew and John, but no further. George and Barbara both died in Polk Co., MO. Celia was married to Moses Ransom King and she died in Howard Co. MO. Not much info on her husband. I have only "Barbara" for Francis' wife.

Re: Zebulon Yoast

I recently joined a local genealogical society and they had the church records of the Kensington Methodist Episcopal "old brick" church. My third great grandfather was Caleb Yoast and his wife was Sarah Jane. I believe that Caleb and Zebulon were probably brothers. Caleb was born in 1808. The records from the church indicate that Zebulon married Mary Matilda Doan in that church. The records also indicate that both families had children baptized there. Mary and Zebulon had a son born on June 18,1849 and baptized on September 23,1849 the childs name was Josiah. Just for geographic reference the church is located in Philadelphia PA.,ergogogo2@aol.com

Not sure of an address for Shady Grove Cemetery, Humansville, MO, but it is the second road heading west, south of the blinker light (on 13 highway). Just follow the road around about a mile or so. The listing for the graves are listed on the net. Findagrave.com is one place to search. This is really a good site.

She is my grandmother. Second mariage was to Joseph Martin Baker. She was born about 1881 and died at age 56. She was reportedly born in Enola, White, Arkansas, as my dad was born i Romance, White, AR., in 1911. I think I have found her father as J.W. Yoast but nothing further. Does this fit in with anything you have. Contact me at: tlb0921@aol.com Tom Baker

There are several YOASTs buried in Shady Grove Cemetery, Humansville, MO (Polk County). They are Andrew, Barbara A, George C, Hugh, John, John (two Johns), Margaret, Martha, Martha A, M M E. Most died in the 1800s, a couple of them died in early 1900s. I am not connected to the Yoast family but several people have come together to save this cemetery as it is very poor condition, plus being hit by a tornado last spring leaving trees down and stones turned over. If you would like more info please email me .

Thanks,
maridavis60@hotmail.com

She is buried at the Wilson
Cemetary just outside Trumann. I am wondering
if she may be connected to your Yoast family.
I have just begun research, so I have not
gathered much information. Anything you have
will be appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

I checked with my mother and she told me that I have the names confused. My great aunt Eleanor was married to Israel Yoast. They called him Uncle Rubber. The had 3 daughters, Dorothy, Janet and Elizabeth (Biffy). As you said it is such an unusual name I thought perhaps there was a connection. I also had a great aunt Florence Gauger.

Sorry for the confusion.

Hi...

We'd thought that Florence was an Emick. Do you have an Israel Yoast/Florence Gauger that fits the rest of the information? Yoast is an uncommon enough name that I'd suspect that there was a connection anyhow. I'm very interested in trading information....

Cheers,

Gordon Bonnet/Carol Bloomgarden (Jacob Yoast's granddaughter)
