I do have some if this information. Thank you. I have discovered that the Ylen's are very tight lipped about their genealogy. I noted that J.K. Ylen's Parents are Israel and Ulrika Ylen. Can you tell me more about them? Do you have a maiden name for Edela Maria?
Please feel free to contact me @ toddnsheri@comcast.net

Thank you,
Sheri

Surnames: Ylen
Gerald Vowell is looking for a Ylen who served in WWII.

He's located a William H. Ylen, service number 33070109, located at Chester Coutny PA, enlisted 6/6/1941 at Camp Lee VA, whose army recods show him born in PA in 1918.
Could this be a relation of the John Ylen you are looking for?

Gerald can be contaacted at gvow1942@chartertn.net

Don, I think that your wife knows me and has visited in our home with her mother Martha Koski... I am Gladys Paana's daughter and am wondering how much information you have pulled together on my mother's grandpa and grandma, Johan and Edla Ylen. Have you been able to put together a family tree on the Johan Ylen side? I would be interested in seeing what you may have. My mother spoke alot of her grandpa and grandma when they visited them on the farm in Prairie Lake. She said that her grandpa was a preacher and referred to as the "Apostle of Love." He always remembered to greet the little children. My parents have many writings of grandpa Ylen's from the Finnish Christian Monthly Papers. My father was also a Pastor in the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church and we will be celebrating the 100th annual convention of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Minneapolis in the summer of 2008. I believe I have a picture of one of the early conventions with my mother and grandpa Ylen pictured amongst several thousand of people. Grandpa and Grandma Ylen also have one granddaughter (Ellen Martin) still living from my mom's side (my mom's sister who will be 96 later this year) and a grandson John Wittenberg (my mother's brother) who is over 80. My grandma, Maria Wittenberg, was Johan and Edla Ylen's daughter. A few years ago, we went to visit the Ylen graves in Cromwell. Did you find out any information on Israel and Ulrika Ylen on the Finland side? If not, I may be able to write to relatives in Finland as my husband was born in Finland and we keep in touch with a lot of relatives over there especially from my father's and my husband's side. Please say regards to your wife and others who may remember this side of the family.

Do you happen to have Joy's address in Florida? I remember when she visited my mom years ago and I was a little girl. She is my mother's cousin. I also think that my dad officiated at her father George Ylen's funeral if I remember correctly. I do know that we were there, however.

Thanks.
