For Abner and Margaret Yinger, I have 5 proven children: William, Phillip, Frederick, Minnie and Jacob. Does anyone have proof of any other children for this couple?

Obituaries for the known children give different birthplaces in Germany. William's says he was born "near Cullen Prussia". Phillip's says he was born at Coblentz. Minnie's says she was born in Strassburg. Frederick's just says Prussia. Their death records do not list a birthplace other than "Germany" or "Prussia". Perhaps if there are other Yinger children who have been proven to be Abner and Margaret's children, we can get closer to finding a location for Abner and Margaret in Germany.

Hi. I'm Larry Yinger of Jackson, OH. What kind of a timeframe are you talking about here? I don't know that I'll be much help, but it is worth a shot.

William was born in 1837, Phillip in 1840, Frederick in 1842, Minnie in 1846 and Jacob in 1849. The family appears to have immigrated between 1850 and 1852. They don't appear anywhere in the 1850 census, and in the 1860 census the oldest child is Phillip at age 21. There may have been other children that were born before these and were living elsewhere by 1860. It is these possible older children that I'm interested in finding.

I am researching a Peter Yinger family. They are listed in the 1900 Census for Scioto Co., Ohio. He was born Feb 1828 in Germany and immigrated in 1836. Could this be a son of Abner?

Peter would not be a son of Abner, as Abner and family emigrated 1850 - 1852. But since the surname is the same and they all ended up in Scioto County, maybe they are related somehow? Maybe a death record for Peter would tell you who his parents were.

This is exciting! What have you found that shows the connection between John A. and Abner & Margretha?

I am researching my husband's family and he descended from Fredrich Yinger the son of Abner E Yinger (born 1798 in Prussia). As I have just started, I would appreciate any info you may have. Thanks
