I am looking for information on the following person:

Yinger, Casper (no M.I.)

date/place of birth: probably c. 1825; probably Shelby County, Ohio
date/place of death: (Nov. or Dec.?) 1865; probate records were filed in Turtle Creek
Township, Shelby County, Ohio12/25/1865.

Father/mother are unknown.

He is listed in the July 1850 census for Shelby County, Ohio (Franklin Township) at 25
yrs. of age, and residing at that time with (three children?): Nancy (6 yrs.), W.M. (3 yrs.),
and Bazzle (sp.?, 2 yrs.), all born in Ohio. No wife is listed as resident at this location/time
(widower?). Casper's occupation is listed in this census report as "Farmer."

He had a son, Finley Yinger (my great grandfather), born 8/17/1855 in Hardin, OH, and
died 12/15/1921 in Johnson, KS, and married 4/15/1875 to Francis Ellen Abrams.

Any information you can provide about Casper Yinger would be much appreciated.
Thank you very much.

There were two distinct Yinger families in Pennsylvania. One, the largest was in York County. The other, and the one my wife is descended from arrived in Pennsylvania around 1790, appears twice in Pennsylvania censuses and then moves to the area of Cumberland, MD. From there part of the family drifted up to central Pennsylvania and several then went to the steel mills of Pittsburgh. Another par;t of the family moved to Ohio.

The yinger family we are following descended from a Casper Junger (note the spelling) who arrived in Philadelphia in 1792 with George and Barbara. If you'll send me your mailing address I can send you copies of what I have.

I am descended from Casper Yinger and his wife Winnifred. They came from Hampshire Co., West Va. I believe they stayed for awhile in Ohio before moving on to Peoria, Ill.
