Two Yezek (Jassick, Yassik, Jesek) brothers came to America in the 1850's and ended up settling in Worth and Cerro Gordo Counties in Iowa. I am working on their lines - ancestors and descendents. Any information from family connections out there would be appreciated. I am willing to share what I have put together so far. Thanks!

Yezek , Yessick , Yazick

I have a 2nd cousin Joe Yezek who died in 1994 in Manly, Worth County, IA. He was married to Mae Helmer, who died in 2001. Joe and Mae had two sons named Gary and Tom. Last I heard, Gary still lived in Manly.

I sent you a reply in Dec but have not heard anything from you. I have some material on Joseph Yezek from Worth Co. His son Frank was my gr grandfather and his wife Rosalie (Rosa) was my gr grandmother. My grandparents were Emil Frank Yezek and Clara Marie Hanna and my Mother was Mary Jane Yezek Barclay. In 2003 we buried my parents between my grandparents at the Sacred Heart Church cemetary in Many, Iowa. Would love to find out who Josephs brother was if that is who you are referring to as two brothers came to US from Bohemia. I don't have any info on where they came from in Bohemia so any help would be appreciated. I hae lots of other stuff that may be of interest to you unless you have already done the research. Let me know.

did you also try Jesek or Jasek, believe me I saw this spelling in the cemetery with my own eyes. There are lots of Yezeks in the cemetery attached to the catholic church in Manly, Iowa Sacred Heart Church

OK Gayle so what have you found in the past ten years since you posted this message. My house burned down in 2003 and I had to start all over again with my genealogy. Have not yet found Joseph Yezek or is it Jesek coming over on any ship yet. I have looked even in Castle Garden but have yet to find how they got here other than what is in the history books. Have you looked at the cemetery in Manly, Sacred Heart Church Cemetery. Love the small stone house.

I was just searching the name Yezek when I came across your posts. Im am David Charles Yezek, eldest son of Frances Charles (Bud) Yezek, eldest son of Charles Yezek, eldest son of I believe Frank Yezek. I own Franks anniversary watch
dated 1905 and I think it was his 50th anniversary. I know so little about our family except that we settled in Iowa and then my grandfather (Charles) moved to Pillager,MN. Im sure we are related. I also have a couple of pretty bad pictures and would love to know if there are any clear pictures of our family circa 1850's t 1930's

I happen to know for sure that Yezeks came from Manly, Iowa as my mother was born there and her brothers and sisters. I do not recall a Charles Yezek being one of Frank Yezeks children. My Frank married Rosalie (Albrecht) yezek and he died about 1933 and she about 1956 or so as I do remember her. They were married in Worth Co. on Nov 10th, 1888 and lived in Manly until they died. But there is a person who may know more than I do about the Yezeks and that is ommpcs is her ancestry contact, so try her. Maybe we are connected somehow but I don't know how yet as my house burned down in 2003 and I had to start all my gen. all over again.
