Thank you for the info. I may be confused about my great grandfather. I thought his name was Frank but now I believe his name was Leopold and his wife was Marie. My Grandmother (Amanda) parents were Fred & Elizabeth Schidlt. I will contact ommpcs and see what info is available. Thanks again!

There is a Joseph Yezek married to Elizabeth Wise that had a son Leopold F. (probably Frank) Yezek born abt 1860 and he had a brother Frank that was my gr grandfather married to Rosalie Albrecht. The Albrechts were originally from Bohemia, and then to Spillville, in Winnishiek Co., Iowa. And the Albrechts married into the Johanes family from Spillville also. So we are probably related in some manner or the other just don't know which yet. The file that I sent on the Barclays has the Yezeks in it also.

Thank you for the information. Leopold (F.) I didnt have that piece of information. This can all get so confusing. The old watch I have is hand engraved with the first initial of what looked like an F but it must be an L. This all makes me wonder how many Yezeks/Jezeks came here from Bohemia mid 19th century.

I THINK THERE WERE LOTS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. hAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE BARCLAY FILE THAT I SENT YOU AN INVITATION TO SEE THE YEZEKS ON? iF NOT, i BELIEVE THAT i SENT YOU AN INVIATION TO SEE THE FAMILY TREE THAT I PUT ON ANCESTRY.COM UNDER THE NAME OF BARCLAY BUT IT DOES HAVE YEZEKS IN IT AND YES THEY DID SPELL THEIR NAME AS JESEK ALSO. i DO KNOW THERE ARE MISTAKES IN THE FILE BUT YOU SEE I LOST EVERYTHING IN A FIRE THAT DESTROYED MY HOME IN 2003 SO WANTED TO GET THINGS PUT SOMEWHERE AND ANCESTRY CAME TO MIND. AM GLAD TO KNOW SOMEONE ELSE HAS INFO AND IS DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THIS SIDE OF THE FAMILY AS i AM STUCK SINCE i CANNOT FIND THEM IN THE PASSENGER LIST EVEN FROM CASTLE GARDENS. HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO FIND THEM, OR WHERE IN BOHEMIAN THEY CAME FROM OR ANYTHING AT ALL? IF YOU DO PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

I just moved to Iowa, but I am originally from Alabama. My great-grandparents were Yessicks. They were from Bohemia Austria. Joe Yessick (Joseph) and Josephine Yessick. He was born 1816, died 1881 and Josephine was born 1822 and died 1937 in Alabama. They had a daughter named Josephine and she was my grandmother's mother. We had a Frank and Mary as well in our family.
I cannot find which port or date they arrived to the United States. I know they spoke German and there was an Ann Yessick in Michigan for awhile. I am new to this process, so I was wondering if there was a connection to the Iowa Yessicks and the Alabama Yessicks. Thank you for your time

I do not know if there is an attachment to Alabama, I never heard anyone in my mothers family refer to anyone from there. I belong to CGSI which is a Czech genealogical society in Minn. and just recently found out that unless you know the name of where they were born, married, died, or something it is usually very difficult to find them. I have been unable to find my relatives coming to New York about 1854-1855. I think I have tried everything, because I tried Garden Castle, and Ellis Island both to no avail. If you know of something I missed please let me know. I shall keep you email and look for them also.
