Sorry I've been lame about keeping up with this message center. I'm fully retired now and too busy. I'll try to add bits and pieces here an there. LOL!
Joseph Yezek (1827, Wespoli, Bohemia to 1908, Manly, Worth County, Iowa) and Elizabeth Wise (1837, Wespoli, Bohemia, to 1929, Manly, Worth ounty, Iowa) arrived in Chicago with baby Mary on 7 Apr 1856 and lived there until 1857 when they came across the country to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, then to MacGregor, Iowa. After crossing the Mississippi River, they went westward to Bristol Township, Worth County, Iowa, making the trip with oxen. There, Mr. Yezek built a log house with a hay roof and started to cultivate his land.
Joseph's boyhood days were spent in Bohemia where he also attended school. He learned the tailoring trade and was also employed as a coachman by a wealthy family.
There were several family members that wrote family stories. Some information is in the Worth County history writings as well.
