They went to Toronto in Canada. This is info I have only just learnt my-self.Looking at the 1881 cencus her father seems to be Calib Yewen living in Wanstead.Carol

Hi Mary Ann, I asked once if any-one knew Cecilia Yewen in Canada. You replied saying "there are quite a few of us" Cecilia Mary Crapper was born in Oxford 1879. She came to West Ham in London. She married George Douglas Yewen March 25th 1905 Later, they went to Toronto in Canada to live. A relative in the states that I have only just found out about said that Cecilia yewen died 1924. Buried at St Johns cemetery in Canada This will probably be no connection but I thought it worth a try. Carol

Hi..My name is Mary Ann Yewen and George Douglas Yewen was my great grandfather..My grandfather, his son, was Ronald Yewen..My father was Gordon Douglas Yewen but he died at 30 years of age in 1963. His brother is still alive and living in Calgary, Alberta Canada..He has two sons. I was born in Toronto, Ontario March 1954 and my sister, Nancy in 1957. Sadly, George Yewen's brothers widow (Bernie Yewen) just died on the weekend and she will be buried today in St. John's Cemetery as well!

Sorry..Ronald Yewen's brothers wife dies not George! She was not that old..

Hi Mary Ann, Where do I start? Can you give me the name of George Douglas Yewen's wife. If it is the correct one then she is my great-auntie. It was her parents (my great-grand-parents that I started to trace. The whole family are from West Ham in London. The other brothers and sisters names I know of. My auntie is still alive and has given me detail. Carol

Hi Mary Ann Did you get my message in reply to yours last night. I do not know if this went through ok. In England there were originally seven children. Cecilia and George Douglas Yewen went to Toronto. Another sister went to U.S.A. The others stayed in and around London. (Except for my own Grand-father. Cecilia was the eldest child 1880 and the youngest was my grand-father. 1893. An age gap of 13yrs. This would explain the extra generation that you have. If you are like me, I have to have 100% proof. But I am fairly certain of that link. Please get in touch soon. Carol.

He was my great grandfather and I did not know him at all or not that I can remember..All I know is my grandmother, Ronald Yewen's wife always referred to him as "Mr. Yewen" even though he was her father in law.
