Hi Brian.

Don't really have very much else. His son William's birth (1877) and marriage (1900) certificates give his occupation as "Sailor".

Now, here's the strange bit. On the 1901 census Jane Yewdall describes herself as a widow, but her death certificate names her as the wife rather than widow of Charles. The death certificate gives his occupation as stonemason.

The death was reported by her son-in-law Alfred Wilkinson. Jane was living with her daughter and son-in-law on the 1901 census.

Hello,

I am Jessie Yewdall's (Noel's sister) great grandson and I have some across your family tree on Ancestry.com. I was not sure how to get in contact with you, as I am not a paying member of the site. I wondered if it would be possible to let me know information that you have uncovered about the family that I can tell my grandmother Joan.

Thank you

Simon

Hi Simon
Sorry to say I know nothing about your side of the Yewdall family.
Likewise I haven't a subscription to Ancestry,so all my posts are via Rootsweb.
At present we (my daughter Beverley and I) are working on the offshoots to the original Yewdall family name prior to the 1901 census. Our resources are much limited due to the limited feedback on private e-mails sent out to contacts.
My daughter being a paid up member of Genes has had the chance to communicate with certain individuals.(Have you made contact with her at all)
Do you have Jessie Yewdall fathers name/year of birth?
What part of the country (assuming you live in the UK) do you come from just out of interest?
Will await any information with interest.
Regards Brian Yewdall

Hi Simon.

Your grandmother would be Joan Paley I guess? You can contact me via my website from my genealogy pages at http://www.stevenberry.org/genealogy/. This site will of course be of interest to to Brian since it may contain Yewdalls that are missing from his list (BTW Brian, I tried contacting Beverley on Genesreunited but have never received a response - this was about 6 months ago now).

I am actually in the process of updating the Yewdalls and fixing many of the census references that are currently incomplete (these were recorded missing the folio number when I first started building my family tree).

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Cheers,

Steven.

Hi Steven
Had a look round your site (bookmarked for future) sadly once
again no links - see below http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=byewdall&op=SR...,
Our 'lot' appear to be the forbears of most branches of the Yewdall name.(Subject to confirmation?)
Does the name Michael Bickerstaff ring any bells with anyone,Beverley seems to have obtained quite a lot of useful info from him.(Will ask Beverley for an e-mail address)
I think some of the info posted to Latter-Day Saints is a bit far off (years not correct on birth entries)so tread carefully!
Brian

Thanks Brian.

I've never heard of Michael Bickerstaff, but he sounds like he's worth contacting ;)

I'm always wary of the data on the LDS site, especially of "member submissions" which vary from being reasonably acurate to complete fairy tales, but in the case of Abraham Yewdall it fits with my other information and the data on the LDS site comes from a "proper" batch. however, yes the Zachary who is Abraham's father is difficult to pin down and requires more research on my part.
