I got this email from Philippe who says that Guertin derives from a french expression Louis " Le Sabotier" Guertin who came from France abt 1675 and is apparently the ancestor of all Guertin's in North America.
Guertin in USA known as Yetto.
But my family name was changed to Yetter and my ancestor was Joshope Gurtin or Guertin and he came from France and settled in the Coaticook, Quebec area. He married a Charlotte Eaton.
His year of birth is 1818-1899
Do you know if Simon or Samuel had any brothers or sisters.

Were Sam and Mary Louise (Beaudoin) Yetto Walker's parents? All the Yetto's of Wynantskill are related in one way or another. If you send me more info on Walker, I will probably be able to help you. Please feel free to contact me at PampChefPam@yahoo.com.

I believed your ancestor from Jean Baptiste Guertin aka John B. Yetto. He was first and original family settler to U.S. from French Canadian in Quebec. I am relating to Pam's husband family to connect to Simeon Guertin aka Samuel Yetto's sister as my g-grandmother. My g-g-g-grandfather was a half- brother of Jean Bapiste Guertin. This is a very different branches of Yetto family from Troy, NY. So, I am still working on the Yetto family on the Jean Baptiste Guertin side of the family. Please be patience with me while I am still working on it.

Hi Pam,

Walker Yetto was different line of Yetto/Guertin of Troy, NY. Their Yetto/Guertin was much older line than we are. They came in U.S. about late 1830's where they lived in Essex County, NY before move to Troy, NY in late 1840's or so. Our family line came around late 1860's or so in Troy, NY. They are same father but their different two step-mothers in their family.

Your cousin,

Bill Mooney
