I am looking for decendants of the slaves of Dr. Pleasant (Peter)M. Yett of Burnet County,(Spicewood)Texas. Joseph and Katherine Yett were my g-g-g-g grandparents and had 14 children. If the White Yetts have any pictures, stories, or information on the African American YETTS, who were slaves of Dr. P.M. Yett, please contact me.

I'm a grandson of Carl Yett. I believe his father name is Sam Yett. My grandfather past before I was born so I never got to know him. I spell my last name as Yetts. I understand my Grandfather was from Tennessee and he has plenty of kin there. My Grandfather and some of his brothers moved to Michigan (Detroit) then to Ohio in search of work. My Grandfather settled and started his family (2 girls and 2 boys) in Steubenville, Ohio. By the way, its a coincidence that I live in Michigan. I was born and raised in Steubenville.

This summer, there was a family reunion in Tenn., however, I was unable to attend. I do not know of any relatives, White or Black, from Burnet, Texas. However, I did meet a Black Yett, Father and Son, here in the Detroit Metro Michigan area. Let me know if your successful in your endeavor.

The name is actually Yett. I am an African American desendant of the Yett family from Burnet County Tx. My g-grandfather was Marion(Martin)Yett, born 1893-1989. He is buried in the Marble Falls Cemetery Burnet County Tx. There are quite a few desendants in Marble Falls Tx. Marble Falls is a city in Burnet County Tx. A lot of the old records of the Yett family who were slaves were burned in the Burnet County court house fire many years ago. The is also a Tom Yett, and Cora Yett who were born in the late 1800'. If you need more info please reply.

Sorry it took so long to reply. What I have learned is that my ggg-grandmother was Harriet Yett, the second oldest daughter of Joe (Joseph) and Katherine Yett of Burnet County. Please send me whatever information you have. In my research, I did find a Marion Yett who had a son Marion Yett Jr. Any information you can provide, will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Greetings from a white descendent of Dr. Pleasant Miller Yett. I'm not the family history expert, but I will ask if she has any information on the African-American Yett families. Speaking for myself, I would like to learn about race relations in our family ancestries, to understand my own family's responsibility in the legacy of slavery. I know nothing of that legacy from the perspective of African-American Yetts. Could sharing our entwined family histories give us more understanding in the present? I'm at janeyett@igc.org if anyone wants to reply, and I understand if you don't! Warm holiday wishes to all of us Yetts everywhere! Jane Yett, 831-429-6353, in Santa Cruz, CA.

I am indeed needing more information. I found a Marion Yett, who is related to my family of Yett, and I am sure it is the same family.
