I am originally from South Boston Mass. and would really like to know how we ended up there. My Dad said we came from Nova Scotia or Newfoundland (can't remember)and that our family were boatbuilders and/or fishermen. Any help would be greatly recieved. Thank you.

I am researching Yetman's from Nfld, who we do not know where they went. Andrew Yetman and wife Ellen had children Michael Andrew b.14/Dec/1879, Agnes b. 1880 came N.S. and married; Mary Josephe Yetman b. Aug/1882; John Patrick Yetman b. Feb/1885; Winnifred Mary Yetman b. Aug/1892; James Joseph Yetman b. Aug/1894 and Andrew Yetman b. March/1896. I could not find a 1901 Census Record to see if they were still in NFLD. They may have moved somewhere
If any names sound familiar let me know. They may have moved to U.S.A.

The Yetman's from South Boston were originally from Newfoundland. there is a lot of info on ancestry .com.
My maternal grandfather was Andrew Yetman, b 1888 in Harbour Grace Newfoundland; son of Harry Yetman and Mary Drover, both of whom were born around 1855 in Bryant's Cove Newfoundland. My grandfather had a number of brothers and sisters, not clear from what I've seen who ended up where. But I do know my mother (Florence Yetman) had several cousins in Soth Boston. Visited with a whole slew of them sometime around 1977 or so - big Yetman re-union. You should have been there I'm still hung over.

Thanks for the info. Unfortuately I missed that re-union. My grandfathers name was James Yetman. He died before I was born. If another reunion is in the works give me a shout.

These names are familiar to me as I am descendent from the Yetmans on my mothers side. Andrew Yetman was born 1848 in Bryants Cove and he first married Ellen Coughlan from Hr Grace and they had the children you reference. Michael was killed in WW1. He had one daughter Winnifred. Andrew was wounded in W W 1 and died in St. John's. James died as a result of getting kicked while on furlough in St. John's. other children included Winnifred Mary, Maude, Margaret, Agnes who moved to the states and Clara. after Ellen died Andrew remarried a Mary Snow and from this union he had another large family including my grandfather Joseph who was born 1907... Other children included Kevin, Bernard, Peter, Patrick,Henry, Alice, Marcella. As a result of parents death many of the children of the second marriage were sent to the orphanage. I am trying to locate the names of Andrew Yetman (born 1848) parents. The church records for the period I need are missing. Our branch are Catholic but most of the Yetmans are Church of England. If anyone has any information on the parents of Andrew yetman I would appreciate hearing from them
