Hi Amy,

A while back you had answered a post that I had made regarding the surname Yescavage. I am still researching this name and was wondering if you had any input as to the specific Yescavages I am looking for. Minnie (Americanized name for something else) Yescavage at some point in time married a Joseph Sweetay. Minnie had a brother Alex (wife Vliga and son Edward) and a sister Catherine and Anna. Any info you might have would be appreciated.

Unfortunately no ....I have not discovered the info that I have been looking for even though I have done extensive research. It just seems like I cannot connect with the appropriate person/people who could help me. I have been told that perhaps part of my dilema rests in the fact that Yescavage was in the past spelled differently and I have yet to discover the correct spelling. I do have some info on Vliga and Alex but not enough to point me in the right direction. I know that Alex and Vliga had several children........Donald, Richard, David, Robert and Edward. You mentioned that you were a niece of Edwards? Would you be willing to share with me what you know about him and any info you may have on his siblings? And of course, I would dearly love it if you could shed some light on my original posting. It would mean a great deal to me and perhaps get me to the point where I can research even further back into the lineage. Thanks for your reply to my posting and I hope to hear from you sooooon !!!!!

I don't know that I have much more information for you. I am Donald's daughter and he is the last of the Yescavage boys alive. You can reach me at am.elliott@yahoo.com with any further questions. I will answer all that I can.

hello there...it has been many years since I have tackled this mystery of Minnie Yescavage (Jaskiewicz). I just hit
so many brick walls that I gave up for a while. Now I decided to give it another wholehearted effort to get some answers. I was told that Minnie was a sister to Alex Yescavage and Alex was married to Vliga. Does any of this ring a bell with you? I dearly would love some answers on Minnie. Hope to hear back from you.

Have you found her arrival manifest, church marriage record or any other US document that would have her place of birth?

By any chance Vliga is Olga as a female first name.

as hard as I have tried....for almost 10 years...I have not found any info on Minnie like her marriage license or ship arrival manifest. So frustrating and discouraging. All I know is the names of her children and husband and the place of birth of one of them. I am told she died in 1918/1919 in Edwardsville PA. Vliga sometimes was callled Olga so I am told.

You're welcome.

You are working backwards from yourself gathering the information on each generation and came upon Minnie.

Anything in her obituary? Sometimes our ancestors would have an old country spelling of their surname on a tombstone.
Did your ancestor considered herself to be Polish JASKIEWICZ or Lithuanian? No W in Lithuanian alphabet.

Was she and her husband a bird of a same feather? What was his surname?

Any luck locating a children's church baptismal record?

Minnie Jaskiewicz/Jaskewicz Sweetay
Minnie was married to a man by the name of Joseph Sweetay

What you know about Joseph SWEETAY? You have his arrival manifest? His surname is an americanized version. Do you know the correct old country spelling?

together they had 5 children
The children's church baptismal record should have parents names and a place of birth.

It would seem that your Vliga [Olga] had social security numbers. Maybe following her paper trail, if you have not already, might give you something to go ahead.

I don't have a paid subscription to Ancestry to help locating documents.
