Peter, Jr is my second great uncle. His sister Betsey Ann is my second great grandmother and married to John Henry Closs. His father Peter Yerdon (Yordon) + Catherine (Polly) Closs are my third great grandfather and grandmother. My ancestors are intermarried between the Yerdon lines and Closs lines.

I am searching for info on a Betsey Petrie who probably married Nicholas Yerdon. Do any of you have any info on her? Is she the same person as Betsey Lewis in the Hammond 1860 census?

I'm also interested in the Margaret Petrie that is mentioned in first post. She married Nicholas Lewis first and had Benjamin, Uriah, and Marcus. Then circa 1860 married Peter Yerdon Jr and had Josephine, Emma R, Nicholas, and Alyda. They are in the 1860 census for Qswego as Yarden.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Respectfully,

Hello Rob, I am the great-great grandaughter of Betsey Petrie. I have found an article about her voting and some death notices in several papers using nnyln and http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ny/county/jefferson/

The Journal and Republican LOWVILLE, N. Y., THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1,1928 AT THE AGE OF 107 Mrs. Alfred Fuller, Kellogg's Corners, to go to Polls to Support Hoover Harrisville, Oct. 31 -- Mrs. Alfred Fuller, of Kellogg's Corners, seven miles from here toward Gouverneur, who claims she is 107 years of age, announces that she will cast her first vote in the national election this fall. She will vote for Hoover. Mrs. Fuller lives at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J H Closs. She is well and active and goes about in a remarkable fashion for a woman of her age. Her daughter substantiates her mother's claim of 107 years. She was born in the Kellogg's Corners section and has always lived there.

THE JOURNAL AND REPUBLICAN, LOWVILLE, N. Y., THURSDAY, JANUARY 24,1929. MRS. BESSIE FULLER, 107 Mrs. Bessie Fuller, widow of the late Afphana Fuller, of Harrisville, who reached the age of 107 years and cast her first vote last fall, giving it to Herbert Hoover, died last Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. L. Claus, in West Pitcairn. She had suffered for a few days from pneumonia. Funeral services were held in the West Pitcairn Free Methodist church Friday, and burial was in West Pitcairn. Rev. F. J. Brown officiated.

The Northern Tribune, Gouverneur, NY January 28, 1929 Harrisville Mrs. Bessie Fuller, who reached the age of 107 years and cast her first vote last fall, giving it to Herbert Hoover, died January 15that the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. L. Claus, in West Pitcairn. She had suffered for a few days from pneumonia. Mrs. Fuller was the widow of Alpheus Fuller. Her first husband was George Yerdon, who died many years ago. Mr. Fuller died about three years ago. Since that time she had lived with her daughter and some of her grandchildren. She had always lived near this village. Funeral Services and burial were in Pitcairn, Rev.F. J. Brown officiating.

THE JOURNAL AND REPUBLICAN LOWVILLE, N. Y. THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 1954 FROM OUR FILES Mrs. Bessie Fuller, Of Harrisville, who reached the age of 107 years, and cast her first Vote last fall, giving it to Herbert Hoover, died last Thursday in Pitcairn.

Utica Daily Press Thursday, January 17, 1929 OLDEST WOMAN DIES Harrisville. Jan. 16 .... Mrs. Bessie Fuller, believed to be one of the oldest woman in New York State, died of pneumonia last night at the age of 107 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. L. Claus. Mrs. Fuller was born in Fullerville and had lived in this section of the state all her life. She voted last November.

I know there are misspelling and errors in these, but I am confident from what there is that this is the Betsey Petrie that you are interested in.

I was wondering if you have any information in your Closs files regarding her daughter (Mrs. H. L. or J. H. Claus/Closs ???)where she was living in Kelloggs Corners.

Thank you, Donna Williams

Hi! I am trying to figure out my Yerden line! All I know is my gg grandfathers name was William H Yerden that married Alice Northrup and had Walter Yerden (my gr grandpa) and Lorena Yerden. I have an idea that Alexander D Yerden of Alexandria Bay was William H Yerdens Father, makeing Fidelia Hazelton Yerden is mother. I know that on the Jefferson CO ny website it says that Alexander's father is Henry Yerden and Polly Klauss of Mohawk Valley but, I have reason to believe that his father was really Peter Yerden/Yordon and his mother Catherine Closs. I am looking for Any information proving or disproving that Peter and Catherine are the parents of Alexander D Yerden (I also have info stating that Alexander changed his name from Albert)also, that Alexander and Fidelia are the parents of my gg grandfather William H Yerden.

William H Yerden/Yerdon born 31 Mar 1874 died 1944

Alexander D Yerden/Yerdon born 1840 in NY died 1917

My Nana says that they used to vacation at Henderson Harbor and that her father (Walter) used to tell her that the family was part Iriqouis Native American.

I hope any of this information helps.
