I am descended from Orrin Franklin Yerden, born in Watertown, NY (1862) to James Alfred and Elizabeth A. Closs Yerden. James was the son of Martin Yerden. James' siblings included: Martin, Stewart, Mary Jane, Franklin, Charles and Ellen. His children (Orrin's siblings) included: Laura Ann, James Eugene, Charles Lafayette, Harriett Elizabeth, Sarah Jane, George Henry, Minerva Mae, Gertrude Victoria, and Wilson. I do not know if this branch is related to Alexander D. Yerden or not but would be interested in hearing from you if there is a connection. James and Elizabeth moved to Michigan sometime between 1862 - 1883. We are trying to find a connection with upstate New York family.

I am looking for Elizabeth Yerden : born around 1815 and married John Hazelton. I believe ( if it's the right John Hazelton) she was living in Fowler, Ny in 1870. Her daughter, Rosetta Orilla Hazelton Shatrau, was living with William and Elizabeth Yerden in Gouverneur, NY during the same year. I'm a little confused about dates, etc. because the Spragueville cemetery inscriptions do not coincide with the census information. Do you have any information about this Elizabeth and John Hazelton and /or William?

Steve,
Polly, James, Stewart, Franklin, et. al. on Pamelia, NY 1850 census are my ancestors. If your Franklin is this Franklin, then we are definitely connected. My notes show Franklin Yerden, son of Martin and Mary (Polly) Yerdon, born abt. 1839 in New York. That would certainly allow for a marriage date of 1860 and children born in 1862 and 1864, although I have no record of spouse, children or date of death. Please feel free to e-mail me directly and we can compare notes.

We are pretty much in agreement, but I show them as descending from John Yerdon And Catherine"Polly". John born 1806 son of Johannes and Johanna Kelly. I know what happened to Stewart and I suspect Mary Jane may have moved to Michigan. A Mary Jane Yerdon married A William Lockard in Michigan about 1867. Franklin enlisted twice in the Civil War. Received Medical discharge. Then son was born and two weeks latter he re-enlistred. Mustered out 1865. Don't find him after that. A second wife (Harriet)filed pension in Michigan and Iowa. Stewart was killed during the war. If any of this sounds right let me know or if you have more info on Franklin in Michiga. Steve

I have a little information on these Yerdens. Glad to share it with you. They are not in my line but I keep bumping into them when looking at old newspaper articles. Would like more info on the Yerden that lives in Alabama since that's where I lived.
