my mum was a yerbury.I've traced the family back to Thomas born C1791 in Frome,Somerset. He married Mary Webb born C1792 in Frome. Their marriage took place in 1811, and they had two children, John and Mary Ann. Have traced all the family through and am now seeking living relatives. As has previously been said there were a lot of girls and quite a number of unmarried males!!! Is there anyone out there related to this particular branch? Am also looking for info on Ralph Arthur Yerbury who emigrated to Canada in 1907.

They're all part of the same family; Ralph Arthur (b. Halstead, Essex 1885) was s/o Walter (1848 - 1918) who was s/o John (1822 - 1867) who was s/o the Thomas & Mary Ann you mention. Several members of this family went to Halstead while John Julian Ames' dau (Sappho) married and went to Australia and others to Birmingham and Bristol. Many were skilled craftsmen - occs incl Optician, Straw Hat Maker, Newspaper Reporter and there's even a noted Investment Fund Manager.

I haven't traced the origins of John Julian AMES (born Frome c.1810) but you might like to contact frome@yahoogroups.com which is a local interest group for the area and someone may have further details.

Hello, I am researching a branch of the Yerbury family from Frome, Somerset too. I am back as far as John Yerbury born about 1824 marrying Mary born about 1825. They lived at no. 17 Cathernine Street in Frome.

Hello, It seems that we have the same two people in common. I have quite a lot of information on this family. I have traced back to John Yerbury's parents, his siblings and all his children. I have found several family members. Which branch are you from? I am from John's eldest sons line.
Looking forward to hearing more.

Wow, this is interesting, Maggie. My husband descends from John's son, Henry born about 1851. Are you then part of Walter's descendants? I have found some info on the family and would very much appreciate any information you have found. We did know that Henry's wife died when she was about 40 and he remarried. The step mom apparently kicked the children out of the house and Mike's Great grandfather Herbert Yerbury ended up in Wales and worked in a coalmine there. He met and married in Wales and in 1915 immigrated to Canada with his wife and 8 children. Darlene

Hello Darlene,
I'm sorry to tell you but you have followed the wrong Henry (a mistake that has been made before). There were 2 Henry's born in 1852. My Henry born 29/1/1852 and the other born a few months later. My Henry married Emily Cabble in Bristol in 1874. He died in 1894 and Emily died in Bristol Workhouse in 1909. They had three children, 1 boy and 2 girls. The other Henry also married an Emily but remained in Frome. I don't know much about him. If you go to Yahoogroups/Frome and ask to join(no fees involved) you will be able to ask and get a lot of information and help with your research. They are a lovely group of people. There are also some Yerbury descendants on there. Also try Genesreunited, as there are Yerburys on there too. My line and a some others, including (i think)some of your line.
Regards
Maggie
