There are Yepiz in Tucson too!!! My sister-in-law is a Yepiz and she also says that her father had said they descended from the Yaqui. Her parents moved emigrated to the US and she still has family in Magdelena, Sonora. I'd be interested in learning the origin of the family name and the family itself if anyone has the information. I'll be sharing these messages with my sister-in-law, Altagracia Gowett (Yepiz). I appreciate any help. Thanks. Derrick Hindsley

I have been looking back on my mothers history and my great grandmother was named Balvaneda Yepiz and she was also from Sonora Mexico (Jamaz). She married my greatgrand father Unknown first name Marquez. My greatgrand mother had a daughter named Trinidad Marquez also born in Sonora but in (Guatabampo) spelling? I would love to know if anyone knew them. They seem to be from the same state in Mexico. Please fill me in on any information you might have. Thanks!
