World War Veteran Dies From Pneumonia
Merton B. Yendes, 31 years old, World War veteran, died at his home, 241 Sommer street, yesterday after an illness of a week with pneumonia. He was born in Penfield, N. Y. For the past nine years he had been a resident of North Tonawanda. Surviving are a wife, two sons, Merton and Robert; a daughter, Ruth, all of North Tonawanda; a mother, Mrs. Howard McCombs of Rochester; two brothers, Samuel Yendes of North Tonawanda and Donald of Santa Diego, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Scofield of Rochester and Mrs. Leon Simson of the same city. Yendes was a member of Electric City lodge and Enterprise Encampment of the Odd Fellows. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence. Rev. C. L. Braun of the Grace Lutheran church will conduct the services and burial will be at Elmlawn.
