MUSCATINE, Iowa -- George Yencsik, 83, of Muscatine died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Lutheran Homes.
Burial will be at a later date at the Rock Island Arsenal.
The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Yencsik was born April 23, 1918, in Chariton, the son of Andrew and Verna Yencsik. He married Mary C. Glentzer in Ottumwa.
He was a carpenter for many years and then a farmer.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in New Guinea and Northern Solomons.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Muscatine; sons, Frederick L. Yencsik of Muscatine and Thomas Yencsik of Hampton, Ill.; daughters, Verna Ann Roth and her husband, Michael of Lake Forest, Ill. and Theresa Helen Shultz of Waukeegan, Ill.; brothers, Andrew Yencsik of Rockford, Ill, and Joseph Yencsik of Ottumwa; sisters, Margaret Mahaska of Ottumwa and Mary Rich and her husband, Pete, of Ottumwa; grandchildren, Jessica, Ben, Steve, Amanda and Douglas; and a great-grandchild, Raven.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Yencsik.
