Arsen B. Yemendjian org. Armenia,Constantinopel to Phila, Pa to Florida
I really need help here. I set up this mesage Board becuase there are NO Yemendjian's on the internet on any research page what so ever! My ggrandfather Arsen left Armenia during the holocust, after witnessing his parents brutal murders. He never spoke of it and i don't even know their names. I know they were weel known over there. He was a shoemaker by trade. He cam to America by way of Boston (the story is on a banana boat - perhaps by way of Cuba?) The name is spelled a different way on each official paper i have for him. I know that there are cousins in Australia, who my family has corresponded with over the years. Arsen was born on 12/25/1888 and was interned at Hillside Cemetary in Roslyn, PA on 10/28/1955 he died in Dade County Florida. His first wife was Viola Mae Van Hoff of Philadelphia, PA who died of the flu epidemic and was also interned at Hillside on 11/16/1918. They had two children Marshall and my grandmother Viola Mae b. 9/23/1917 in Philadelphia, PA. After their mothers death they were placed in foster care. His second wife was Marie last name not known, who hated the kids and never took them in. I know of a cousin i believe named Leon Yemendjian, but may be an Uncle or something. There was a brother i am certain of named Stephen, who might have gone to Australia with their sister Mary. Mary I believe is the mother of the cousins that we have corresponded with. My cousin is Aris "Paul" Sarian in Australia who has two kids - a son named Zavin Sarian and a daughter Zarmin (e) who is married but i don't know the married name. During his life my ggrandfather also went by the name of Arthur Yemendjian. Alternate spellings have been Yemenidjian and Yemendian to only name a few. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Arsen B. Yemendjian org. Armenia,Constantinopel to Phila, Pa to Florida
Dear Valerie,
I don't think there is any hard connection but here goes. I have a great Aunt maiden name Lillian Farrell she married George Yemendijian(spelling) in 1901. George was 23 and was born in Armenia his Father's name was John and his mother's maiden name was Trairy Baupossion(spelling?) Lillian and George has a premature baby named Loretta and she was born after 6.5 months of the pregnancy. This infant is buried in Calvary cemetery. The family lived on 351 W44th in NYC

Re: Arsen B. Yemendjian org. Armenia,Constantinopel to Phila, Pa to Florida
Paul,
There may very well be a connection, although I know very little about my G-Grandfather's side of the family. He refused to speak about his family in Armenia due to the holocaust I suppose.
I have found more info out since my initial posting. He was actually born in Adana Turkey - but is Armenian and his family moved to Constantinopel when he was young.
He came to America by way of France and then Cubia I believe, landing in Massachusettes (somewhere) on a banana boat. His sister moved to Australia, where her family still lives. Some family went to New York and eventually out to California.
I was able to get my G-Grandfather's application to Social Security for his number and found my GG-Grandparents names.
I have some family names that have been handed down and remembered from cousins - Averdesian, Boupossian (Which may be you person), Sarian and a few others, but don't have my notes in front of me at the present time.
Thank you for your info. I will hold onto your contact info and if I find a tie, I'll let you know.

Re: Arsen B. Yemendjian org. Armenia,Constantinopel to Phila, Pa to Florida
It has been many years, but I finally found out a few more tibits - though I am struggling to get any information. My G-Grandfather Arsen Yemendjian (correct spelling) was actually born 07/25/1891 and December as originally thought. I was able to get his Social Security application from the Government and found his father was Bedross Yemendjian and mother was Sourpik Avedisjian. He was born in Adana Turkey. That is all I have found - still no ties to Boupossian.

Re: Arsen B. Yemendjian org. Armenia,Constantinopel to Phila, Pa to Florida
Well... I think I may have a bit of a bite for you here. I just started researching my genealogy and I think my G Grandmother may very well be your "Marie." My G Grandmother, nee Hood, married name Weinbrenner, remarried later in life to a Yemendjian. We never knew anything about this though or where this name came from. She was living in Philly, though, I believe which means the geography matches up. I hope this has been helpful! -Ryan

just a quick correction - Marie was born Marie Faye, not Marie Hood.
