Hi Beverly,I have been researching my Yeley relatives for some time now and I have found Peter and Charles Yeley in Scioto Co.Oh.I think there is some information about Peters will at the courthouse in Portsmouth,Ohio.I thought Peter may have been related to my 4-great grandfather Dennis Yeley.I have not totally ruled it out...yet.I will look in my records and see if I still have information on Peter.Hope to hear from you.Trent Oiler

These two YELEY are the oldest that I have researched.

I know of Peter YELEY being in the above county, and a death in Scioto County, Ohio.

I feel my Charles is his son, as living in very close relationship in Census report.

Need Peter Yeley Census before and after for more information.

In Peter YELEY court records, who did he list as heirs.?

My ancesters lived also in Clark County, Illinois before his death. My Charles YELEY had several Children, other than my direct.

I have several of their connections.

Still looking for others.

Trent and Beverly I too would be interested in seeing that will of Peter's. You see I'm related to Charles Yeley through his brother, John Yeley. I would very much like to see it and converse with both of you about the Yeley family.
Thanks, Nick

Nick, I will go to the court house and find out how to obtain a copy of the will. Have you heard of Dennis Yeley? I'm not sure if he is in the same line as Peter but they are the only Yeleys in the area at that time. Mt email is trentoiler@yahoo.com Feel free to contact me anytime.
Thanks, Trent

Yeley sibling group in Ohio - Peter, Mary, Charles, John C

Surnames: Yeley
Hello Folks,

I'm going to join in on the fray because I've gotten very interested in the Yeleys. I'm descended from Charles Yeley, born 1795. Here's what I think from my discussions with others: there were four siblings - Peter, Charles, John C, and Mary - that all went west together from PA. Peter had at least two children - Dennis and Dorothy - and his descendants ended up settled in Scioto County, Oh. Mary and John C ended up in Indiana. And Charles ended up first in Muskingum County, Ohio and later Clark County, Illinois. So here are my questions:

1) Is Peter Yeley really the sibling of John C, Charles, and Mary? He is born a bit earlier.

2) What was Peter Yeley's wife's name?

3) From where in Pennsylvania did the sibling group originate?

4) My understanding is that they are of German origin - this makes sense - but how was their name originally spelled? Was their father's given name really Peter? Who was their mom, and were there other siblings that stayed behind in PA?

Any insights - including the text of Peter Yeley's will that is in Portsmouth - would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

I am a descendant of Dennis Yeley (1810-1883) of Scioto Co., OH who married Eliza Wait (1817-1900). I have a copy of a posting on Ancestry.com from Barbara Schoenberger (dated Nov. 22, 2001) which says that "Peter Yeley's (1782-1847) will (Scioto County) lists two children, Charles and Rebecca."
