Surnames: McGlone, Yeley, Cartee, Hanes
My husband's grandparents were John Franklin and Io B. (Hanes) Yeley. They lived in the S Webster area near Portsmouth. John's father was William Henry Yelley,Sr.(spelled with 2 l's). William was married to Mary Elizabeth Raynard.

Hello, Can you give me some dates of your Yeley/Yelley line? I can check the census for the people you have mentioned. My great-grandma was Nellie Yelley, d/o Hiram and Catherine Shafer Yelley and I have located this line on the 1900 census for Scioto County, Oh. Joyce

One more thing, South Webster area should be Bloom Twp. and there is extensive info in our library from that area. HANES is a well know name and should not be hard to locate. YELLEY, on the other hand, is hard to come by no matter how you spell it. Joyce

William Henry YELLEY Sr. b. 01 Dec 1851 d.abt.1881. Married Mary Elizabeth RAYNARD b. 17 Jun 1860 d. abt 1919, abt 1876. Children were William Henry YELLEY Jr. b. 05 Dec 1877, d. 08 Oct 1818, married Ida SIMS b. 09 Dec 1876, d. 21 Sep 1960 and John Franklin YELLEY b. 08 Jul 1880, d. 02 May 1951, m. Io B. HANES"Owl" b. 07 Apr 1889, d. 24 Mar 1969. After William Henry YELLEY Sr. died Mary Elizabeth RAYNARD married his brother John YELEY abt 1882. John died abt. 1891. Nobody knows why the brothers spelled their names differently. John Franklin was 2 years old when his mother remarried so he probably took on the spelling of the only father he knew, John YELEY. This comes from information gathered in the early 80's by Woodrow Hyland, Mary Margaret Keeney and Francis A Hyland. It also includes the surnames of: HYLAND, PYLES, PEMBERTON, SIMS. There are no locations listed for dates. It would be nice to have those if available.

My name is Kathleen V. Yelley Dials. My grandfather was William Henry Yelley Jr. Married to Ida Sims. I would like to correspond with anyone working in this line. My mothers maiden name was Yeley and I am interested in finding a link for these two families. I believe they will be the same family somewhere in the past but so far I have not found the link.

I Kathleen V. Yelley Dials would like to correct a death date for William Henry Yelley Jr. He died on 08, Oct. 1918 not 1818. My father was Williams first child and he was born Oct. 4, 1899 and he was 19 years old when he dad was killed in a mining acdident.

Sorry, Kathleen, about that date. A date for a death before the birth would be hard to do. It must have been a typo, happy you caught it.
