I am seeking information on Stephen Yeigh. He married my gggrandmother on October 18, 1883 in Sioux City, Iowa. Her name was Delilah Dean, but she went by Lila. I would like to know if they had any children. I am trying to locate her burial spot. I have located Stephens, he is buried in Linnwood Cemetary in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Stephen Yeigh was my gggrandmother's second marriage. She was first married to Pleasant Henderson Barnes. They were both from Johnson County, Iowa. (Pleasant and Lila)..On Stephen and Lila's marriage certificate, it states Stephen was born in Pennsylvania. It also has an abreviation, I believe for Stephens father. It says Jno. Yeigh. I don't know what name this abreviation stands for. If somebody can help me with this couple, I would appreciate it. I am very interested in locating her burial place, and any info on children they may have had together. Also, the dates on Stephen's death record are born in 1858 and died in 1927.

@the 1900 Fed Census, Iowa, Sioux City Delia Yeigh is already a widow, with 3 children May H age 13, Beech age 9 and Samuel age 3. They are living with Mas? Tom Dean a 64yo widow, given as Delia's father. Samuel age 3 is apparently son to your Stephen. Samuel is a recurrent Yeigh name. I will let you know if and when I find Stephen in my records.

Could you please let me know the enumeration district and/or page number, or township this information on Delia Yeigh is listed on in the Sioux City Census? I have access to the census on Ancestry, and I would like to view this for myself. The Delia/Delilah/Lila Yeigh I am looking for was not a widow, unless she was married again somewhere that I don't know about. Her first husband didn't die until 1929. Her first husband remarried in Sioux City, Iowa only a few months before she did in 1883 also. She had 1 child I know of with her first husband, and we believe we found 2 more we didn't know about before they split. Her first husband was Pleasant Henderson Barnes. Thank you.

David, in your reply to Stephen you mentioned Beech. Is this Beech born Sept 6, 1890 and mother of Rex, Beryldine, Amos & Phylis? Cheers, Roger

Hello Brenda, I like David am very interested in the USA Yeigh family. I have most of the Canadian side of the Yeigh family. I think Jno stands for John. I show a John Yeigh b abt 1826 in PA married to Elizabeth. He had a son Lucien b abt 1850 but may have had other children. I have no primary evidence to support this and may be a real long shot. Just to let you know I am interested and have some US Yeigh names. Regards, Roger

This is what I have on Yeigh's. They are my family. Beech Yeigh is my g-uncle through his mother's second marriage to Stephen Yeigh.
Delilah Dean mother born January 1855 in Johnson County, Iowa I have not located her burial place yet, or death date.
Stephen Yeigh father born Pennsylvania died 1927 buried in Linwood Cemetary, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Children: 1. Frank Yeigh born March 31, 1884 in Iowa 2. May H. Yeigh born August 1886 in Iowa 3.Beech Yeigh born September 6, 1890 died September 1966 in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona 4. Samuel Yeigh born June 1896 in Iowa
Most likely all the children were born in Plymouth or Woodbury County, Iowa. I got Beech's information off of the SSDI. He is my g-grandfather's half brother. Beech's mother Delilah was first married to Pleasant Henderson Barnes of Johnson County Iowa, and my great grandfather was Millard Barnes, their son. If you have any more infromation on this family, please let me know!

Could you please tell me, if you know, who Beech Yeigh was married to, and where?

From what I have concluded in my research, Delilah and Stephen split up, as I found her in the Sioux City, Iowa 1900 census living with 3 of her 4 Yeigh children. Thanks to a post on here! Anyway, she is most definitely living with her mother, in 1900 in Sioux City. Stephen died in 1927. When I have time, I will try and find him again in the 1900 census around Sioux City. I am expecting to find out more about Stephen Yeigh tomorrow evening. We will be calling a relative that lives in Oregon to get some more information. I hope we get some. I will keep you posted! Anyway, did you find the marriage certificate I posted on this board? You can copy it. It is Stephen and Lila's marriage in Sioux City, Iowa.

Brenda, I don't know if you have found your Delilah's burial spot, but if not, she was buried in Sioux City, Woodbury Co., IA. I also have a Pleasant Henderson Barnes and that is why I found your message - my Pleasant Henderson Barnes was in Iowa City. I understand that the Pleasant Henderson Barnes in your line was the son of George Barnes and Delphine Holman. I found this information on a general search of the web, so I can't verify the information is correct, but thought I'd pass it along. Sincerely, Sasha

Delia Yeigh died in Sioux City, Iowa, but she is buried in Lincoln Township cemetery in Plymouth County, Iowa east of Hinton, Iowa. I recently learned she owned 3 burial spots, and there are 2 others buried with her,,,, One is no doubt Stephen Yeigh and the other is most likely her son Marshall Barnes. Are you researching the Barnes line? I have much Barnes information, although I don't have it all in my database as I need 10 lifetimes to put it all in. If you are interested in the Barnes line, I will point you to a couple spots on the internet with info posted.
