I just happen to stumble across this site and found it quite interesting. My name is Becky Yedinak, daughter of Robert Yedinak Jr. who is the son of Robert Yedinak Sr. of streator. His father, my great grandfather was Andrew Yedinak also of Streator. I don't know if I am related to any of you but with a name like Yedinak how can ya miss. I just thought I would drop a little note and say hello.

Hi Becky, It was so nice to get your email and I think you are right that we are at least distantly related. I think my parents my have met some of your relatives from Streator. My parents live in Mascoutah, Illinois. My Dad just recently passed away in February of this year. This made me even more determined to track down our relatives. It has been tough because of the language barrier and obtaining information from Croatia. I would enjoy exchanging information with you and letting you know at least the information I have......did that make any sense.....I look forward to hearing from you.Kathy

Kathy:

I would really be interested on hearing how you began your search in Croatia? It seems that it is tough enough searching over here, I can't imagine how to go about doing it there.

I continue to collect information, sometimes search for hours with little results. But I keep after it.

Any information you might send my way would be much appreciated.

Bill

Hi Kathy.
Was your dad John? My dad was Charles Anthony and mom Nellie. They were from Wall, PA.

If so, please let me know since my mom is still alive and remembers SO much.

take care, Jim

Hi Jim,
It has been a long time. The last time I saw you, you were
just a little kid. Yes, I am the daughter of John James Yedinak and have been trying to track our Croatian history. Thanks to your mom I was contacted by Kathy Vugrincic and she provided alot of history regarding our grandmother, Eva Vugrincic. I have been frustrated regarding information on our grandfather. I did find his information regarding his immigration. The name that he had when he came to the US in 1901 was Ivan Josip Jedinak. He was 16 years old and I have been trying to find out information on who his mother and father were. If you look carefully at the ship manifest, you will find that he was supposed to go to his father's in Calumet Michigan and they spell his father's name Nicola Jedynak. If your mother has any information I would greatly
appreciate it. I have 2 of our ancestry trees on here. I look forward to hearing from you. Kathy

Hi there. oh yea, those were the days of being driven all over the country during the summer. i really miss that and wish we could do that now.
do you remember aunt ann? she lived in the brick house (like most in PA are) and she had a daughter Norma? Kim was her daughter and now lives in Fayetteville near my sister Joanne. they hang out a lot and it's such a small world.
I remember asking my mom and dad about their brothers and sisters and how one by one they passed away. Now I'm doing that since my sister Jean passed away a few years ago in Hawaii.
I'll see if my mom has any more info on Nicola.
take care, Jim

Hi again, It was Aunt Josephine who had that brick house and
two daughters. One was Norma and the younger one was
Shirley. I think Shirely still lives in the Pittsburgh area. It was Aunt Ann who had the daughter Dorothy who now lives in the Chicago area. She has an older brother Paul and I think he lives in Colorado. If you get a chance just ask your Mom about grandfather's parents and did he originally come to Pennsylvania. If you get a chance look at the family trees. I still need to keep adding. Talk to you later. As ever, Kathy

How about a Rudolf Yekinak, born May 26,1922 in IL. and passed March 22, 1993 in possibly Berwyn, Cook, IL. He was in the Navy. I have a photo of him in his uniform. His father was named Stanley Yakinak.
I would like to know where he is buried. If someone knows anything about him.
He was married more than once. Divorced at least two known times. Served Navy 1942.
