Hi Julie.....I am also a Yedinak by birth and was told that the original name was Jedinak.......in fact when I looked up our name in Croatia....I found that they are all under Jedinak . I am still on the search for more information . Most of the Yedinaks or Jedinaks seemed to end up on the east coast with alot of them in the Pittsburgh PA area. I would love to share information with you if you are interested.

I saw your posting regarding Yedinak's in Wyoming. I have Yedinak relatives living in Rock Springs, WY. John Yedinak, Sr. moved to that area from PA in 1904 and had a family of 9. John Sr. is the brother of my GGFather, Thomas. I am continuing the family tree left to me by my uncle. He had it current through 1980. His main contact to that branch of the family was Cecelia (Yedinak) Larrabaster. Hope there is a connection and hope to hear from you soon.

Julie, After further investigation, I am very confident that we are related. Here is what I have found on my family tree. If I am correct, your parents are Michael & Karene; Michael's parents are Paul R. & Nancy; Paul R's parents are Paul G. & Mary (aka Mae); Paul G's parents are John & Anna. John's brother is Thomas, who is my Great Grandfather. If you think we have a match, please E-Mail me: QuincyWert@AOL.com.

Hello,

Hello,

I have been working on the Jedinak, Yedinak, Yednock family history and have copies of the original baptism and marriage records of the Jedinak, Yedinak, (later Yednock)s who came from Kohanovce, Humennes, Slovakia (was Hungarian Empire when they immigrated). The parents were Mihaly Jedinak and Susanna Hadvabni (also Hadbavni). Mihaly (also Michael) came from Olsinko (now Slovakia) and travelled 25 kilometers to Kohanovce where the Hadvabni family had been living along with the Tutkos and Sepelya (now Shapella) since the earliest records in 1804. Mihaly and Susanna married Nov 16, 1863 and had 4 children: Maria Jedinak born 24 Nov 1864 who married Janos (John) Sepelya (Shapella) 20 Feb 1884, Janos (John) born 24 Dec 1866, married Anna Somplyak 18 Nov 1889, Tamas (Thomas) born 20 Dec 1869 married Anna Tutko 9 May 1892 (son Paul born Jan 1892), and Gergely (George) born 6 Mar 1873 (died at age 3 weeks). The 3 living children all immigrated to Pennsylvania although John moved on to Wyoming. I will email anyone who wants to see the church records.

My Gr-Grandmother was Juliana Jedinak but she never emigrated to the US. My Grandfather Petro Mutka (Muta her in US)was born in Mochnaczka Wiszna, Nowy Sacz in Galicia, Aust. Hung. (now Poland) He was ethnically Ruthenian but when I was there about 10 years ago, the Slovak border is just a few miles away. Cousins said that the cows crossed the border all the time in the old days! Could this be any connection to your family? I know that Peter and Dimitry were Juliana's brothers and they both came to Pa. Simpson, Fell Twp area. Does this ring any bells?

It is very likely that they are related. Our earliest ancestor was Michael Yedinak, Ruthenian, and found just over the Slovakian border. I could not find a birth record for him but his marriage record stated he was born in Olsinko about 1832. I have several older records from Olsinko's Greek Catholic Church. There were two or three Jedinak families there who could have been his family but it was puzzling to not be able to find his birth recorded. The church was very small and the Jedinaks made up most of the congregation so I would assume they are all one family.
