I have a marr lic appears to be Yeakey but most researchers say she is Jeakey....there is no Jeakey message board...does anyone ever seen Yeakey as Jeakey...I am trying to find Mary's family, any info is appreciated. Is Yeakey German?

Jeakey, Mary Catharina, and William Smither, Burlington 1734 Aug. 5 New Jersey Marriages, Colonial Era, 1665-1800
lived Berks co Pa, Smither died there 1760, Mary md Jacob Bachman, he d 1788, she was still living, no children with him but 7 sons, 3 dau's with Smither.

I have also heard of it being sp other ways...
The Pennsylvania Dutch Society official index lists variations of the names as JACKEL [LE], JAECKEL [LE], JAKEL [EL], JAKLE [EL], JECKEL [LE], JEGEL, JAKILL, JAKYLL, JEKYLL, JEKEL [LE]...also substituting the J for a Y too.
I do know she was German prob born there around 1711...trying to find her family and if you could help point me in some direction I would surely appreciate it, thank you.
I found an Andrew Jaecke arriving at the NY port on the ship IRENE on 22 June 1750 but no idea if hes related and can find nothing more on him. NS

The father of Maria Christina wrote his name twice and spelled it JAGI. It is most commonly spelled Jaggi in Switzerland where the family came from.
