Hi. My Yeagers hail from Ouachita county, Ark. John B. and Esther Amanda Hicks Yeager. Think we have a connection?

Did your John B. Yeager m. Amanda in 1849 in IN? Amanda was 17 yrs old. John Yeager went to IN to marry Amanda, but was living in Moscow, Muscatine Co, IA at the time. John B. Yeager d. 1855 in IA.

John B. Yeager's children by 1st marriage (Eliza Ann Juvenall):

William J. Yeager
Austin B. Yeager
Erastus Yeager
Mary A. Yeager
Harriet Yeager
George W. Yeager
Ann Yeager
Homer Yeager
John Yeager
Jane Yeager

Children from 2nd marriage (Amanda):

Does any of this fit your line? I'd appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks. Marjorie

Margarie, one of the most frustrating things about genealogy is the similarity in names. My John B. Yeager ws born in1823 in Ga. He was a licensed Baptist Minister in Ark. He married Esther Amanda Hicks in Quachita county, Ark in 1845. She died in 1891. He soon after but where is not known. We think Texas. They had 12 children, one of which was my greatgrandmother, Mary Frances Yeager who married William Aikin Arnold in Ark. If you would like the names of my John's children, let me know. Will be glad to share.

Margarie, John Brazelton Yeager, who was born in GA and moved to AR, was son of Abner Yeager, b. VA. Abner's great-grandfather was Adam of the 1717 Germanna Colony, VA. Some of Adam's grandchildren and ggc moved into KY and then into IN and IL. So your John B. Yeager is almost definitely related to Iva's John B. Yeager, but not the same man.

Thank you for your response.

My John B. Yeager was b. 1815 VA; lived in Perrysville Twp, Vermillion Co (1840 Census); Moscow Twp, Muscatine Co, IA (1850 Census).

Children listed for the 1850 Census:
Mary, b. 1834 IN
Harriet, b. 1835 IN
George, b. 1838 IN
Ann, b. 1840 IN
Homer, b. 1842 IN
John, b. 1843 IA
Jane, b. 1848 IA

Older children:
William J., b. 1829 IN
Austin B., b. 1830 IN
Erastus, b. 1831 IN

Does any of this make a connection with any of your information? I had found on the LDS site a John Yeager, b. 1 Aug 1815 in Mason Co, VA (now WV), son of Joseph Yeager and Mary Rickard. Could this be the same John B. Yeager?

The line that I'm researching ended up in Chase Co, KS by 1859 (George W. Yeager).

I'd appreciate any information that you can share. Thank you, again for your speedy reply.

I found some more on the John B. Yeager family of Perrysville,Ind. and Muscatine Co. Ia. Try this website:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~iacedar/ccfamilybios.htm
Scan down the page to John Yeager Family. Also read on the next part about John Brown in Iowa and Kansas before
Harper's Ferry.
There are some differences that are puzzling.
It gives the name of John's wife as Sarah Jane. Marriage records of Vermillion Co. Ind. have John Yeager marr.
Eliza A. Juvenall 27 Jan. 1827.
Also a marriage record for John B. Yeager to Amanda Perrin 10 Oct. 1850.
The 1850 Vermillion Co Ind. census has in Perrysville:
John Perrin 51, blacksmith b. Pa, Sarah 46,b. Pa, Amanda 24, b. Ky, Cyrus 19, b. Ohio, William 16, b. Ohio, Susan 15, b.Ohio, Tulaskia(m) 12, b. Ohio, Martha 6, b. Ind.
Notice that Amanda is listed as 24, not 17. However in the 1860 Cedar Co. Iowa, Sugar Creek Twp.census she is 27 and b. Ky with two children, Chester 7, b. Iowa, and Martha E. 5, b. Iowa.
The article does not list an author. More questions, but very interesting.

I am descended directly from John B. Yeager via George W. Yeager. I certainly hope you get this as I have hit a wall with John B.
