Betty R. Yaeger

PORTSMOUTH: Betty R. Yaeger, 85, of Portsmouth, Ohio (Scioto County) died Friday, July 18, 2014 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

She was born July 22, 1928 to the late Robert Yaeger and Mattie Webb Yaeger.

Betty started her teaching career at North Moreland Elementary School in 1950.
She then went to Wilson Elementary School where she taught special reading.
She retired in 1991 after 41 years of service.

Betty graduated from PHS in 1946 and Ohio University in 1950 and received a Masters Degree from Ohio University in 1981 in Economics Education.

She was an active member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, was a former member of the administrative board and had taught Sunday school. She had also been a member of the former Franklin Avenue United Methodist Church.
She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, bowled on two teams in the Portsmouth Area Bowling League and was a supporter of Fine Arts in Portsmouth, OH.

Betty also traveled extensively with her sister, Dorothy Harman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Jacob Yaeger and a cousin, John Buckley.

Betty is survived by a sister, Dorothy (Worth) Harman of Baltimore, Ohio; a niece, Holly Fackler; four nephews, Tim Harman, Steve Harman, Andy Harman and David Harman; numerous Webb family members; and a cousin, Billye Buckley of Columbus, Ohio and her daughter, Christina Buckley.

Funeral services will be 1l a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.
Visitation will be 11a.m to 2 p.m. Sunday, at Daehlers.
