Ybarra connection to Herrera - is there a connection in Central California

Surnames: Ybarra, Herrera
Approximately 2 years ago, I had a very long (and over due) conversation with my grandfather, Manuel Herrera (98 years old) at his home in Odessa, TX. He and my grandmother, Natividad "Tieve" Lopez Herrera, still live in Odessa and will be celebrating their 71st anniversary this year.

With my career, I lived in several areas across the United States and this has often been a topic he likes to ask about. During our long conversation and walk, he asked where I was living and I informed him that I was living in Bakersfield, CA. It was at this time that he got a smile on his face and said that we had family in this area. He said that they lived in Tulare, Visalia, San Jose and other areas throughout California.

He said our family in the Tulare/Bakersfield/Visalia were Ybarra. So now I find myself wondering how many relatives I've walked by in the area.

And yes, my grandfather is still alive and asking if I have talked to our family here.
