I have been researching Antonio Gil Y'Barbo (Ybarbo, Ibarvo) as an ancestor of my mother, and particularly have been searching in the area of his father Matteo/Matieu Antonio Gil Y'Barbo who married Juana Hernandez in the Alamo mission (San Antonio de Valero) in April 1723. A cousin has the record and says there are Indian listings on either side. I have seen references to the records but never seen them. Other history accounts say they came directly to Los Adaes mission/presidio by way of New Orleans from Andalucia Spain in the 1720's after the Aguayo Expedition reclaimed it from French control in 1721/22. Their son Antonio was born in Los Adaes in 1729 but had other older siblings I believe. So there is some confusion here and I would love to find out what really occurred. Antonio led the group back to San Antonio for a short period of time when forced the an order in 1771 but then they went back into East Texas in 1773 and eventually (re-) established Nacogdoches in 1779. He had to return to San Antonio in the late 18th Century on charges that were droppe but married his second wife while there. I know there are a myriad of Ybarbo descendents in East Texas. Ericson Books has some book (lets) on the Ybarbos and Moras.
