Hi, my family is from Cebu, too. My dad is from Bogo. From what I heard, they say that my great-great-grandfather was a Spanish priest. But I don't think that they would take his last name, right? That's the extent I know, but I will ask my parents more about it.

Hello,
I am a first generation Filipina and my parents are also from Cebu. My father's maternal grandfather was full Chinese but also lived in Cebu. We believe he was a merchant. He would frequently ride through the mountains as part of his trade. Sadly, one day he never returned. It was believed that he was attacked by bandits.

My birth name was Soledad Ibanez(Ybanez), according to my late father Burgos Ybanez our ancestor came from Cebu as a merchant that owns hardwares, cinema and copras'the Ybanez name was not the name of our grandfather as the last name was Galolang but they end up using Ybanez from our Grandmother whom I believed was spanish. I also would like to find out more history of my family so if you have any clues please send me an email.

I'm not sure if this would help, according to my late Papa Burgos Ybanez our ancestor originally came from Cebu but the Ybanez last name was taken from my grandmother as my grandfather name was Galolang. Yes, absolutely we have the spanish blood from our grandmother as she was full blooded spanish and my grandfather is more of chinese blood. I think they used to owned lumbers, cinema and a big time merchant back in the day. I hope this would help, and i wouldn't mind getting more information about my fraternal side of the family.
