Yes. The only thing I was told was that Ybanez clan in Masbate came from Bogo Cebu, Efipanio Ybanez I think was the great grand father of a big family in Masbate many of them now in living in Manila. He had brothers and sisters. They are big family in Bogo, Cebu. But they got separated some went to other places in the Visayas, Bicol, Mindanao, and in other countries. In the early years of American occupation they change it to Ibanez (Y to I) because in school the children had a hardtime understanding Y to be pronounced as I so Ybanez became Ibanez. If you go to Bogo, Cebu, the Ibanez family is well known. My understanding is all Ibanez that can trace their roots to Cebu are all relatives by blood. It's true that they are merchants the great grand father who started the family in Masbate was a Copra trader and he had 4 sons from whom the original Ibanez in Masbate came from. The new generation were told by the oldies that if they want to know their roots go to Bogo, Cebu. The answer is there.
