I would like to notify everyone of the existence of my Yawman Family home page on the Family Tree Maker site:

http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/y/a/w/Gary-A-Yawm...

This database includes the results of my 20+ years of research as well as all of the earlier work done by Harry Heislein and his sons, Harry and Thomas. It might answer a lot of questions. Of course, my database is not complete, and I have some updating to do. I am always interested in updates or corrections. Thanks.

I am a great grandson of Philip H. Yawman (Y&E), grandson of Frederick Hafner, & son of Maurice Hafner. I have admired the work you have done on the Yawman Family.

My question: Does anyone know anything about Anna Gormam the first wife of Nicholas Yawman & mother of Philip H. Yawman? When did she die, where was she buried, when & where she was born, did she have family members? I am interested in anything you might know about it.

Thank you for your comments. I have reviewed my old files for any clues. From St. Patrick's Church Records, Rochester, I found 2 marriages occuring on the same day, March 28, 1837: Nichols Yaman to Ann Gorman, wit: Joseph Yaman and Mary Gorman. Same day, John Gorman to Mary Sheridan, wit: James Murphy and Ann Sheridan. I don't know what the relationship was between John Gorman and Ann Gorman, but there is obviously a connection. Ann died about 1841 and Nicholas re-married in Feb. 1842.
From 1827-1849, the Rochester City Directories list 2 John Gormans, Edward Gorman, Ferris Gorman, and a Matthew Gorman at one time or another, but have no idea if they connect to Ann. Another clue is that in 1847, both Nicholas Yawman and John Gorman were listed as living on Romeyn near Magne. Whether the same house or just neighbors is unclear.
Nicholas Yawman's younger brother, Philip, married a Mary J. Gorman Sept 11, 1842. From the 1850 Census, Mary was born about 1826 in Canada. She died in 1854 in Rochester. Ann and Mary could be sisters. Mary could have been the witness at Ann's marriage. Canada may be the place to look for more info on their parents.
