I have a large Yawman File thanks to my father, brother in Oregon and Gary Yawman in Texas. It includes those born as Yawman [274] and Jamann [23] born in the villiage of
Schmittviller, Moselle,Lorraine, France back to the 1730's.
This count does not include those that married into the Family.

Thomas,

Hello. I am assuming ones who came from France then settled in NY? I am trying to connect my great-great grandfather to the NY Yawman family. THANKS!

Chris - if my file is correct, your middle name is David.
My father started the Yawman file about 1947 when my Grandmother Julia Yawman died. She was a daughter of Philip H. Yawman, the founder of Yawman & Erbe Manufacturing Co.
The Jamann/Yawman Family was a single family of parents and
5 sons and 2 daughters who arrived in 1831 or 1832.
In Germany the Letter "J" is pronounced as a "Y" and thats
how the name was changed.
My brother and our wives visited Schmittviller in 1995 and
1997 - it is a very small Village.
