I am interested in locating information on individuals with the surname "Yauger" who were born prior to 1800. Am looking for the ancestors of my ggg-grandfather John Yauger, born in PA in 1784.

My grandmother was Naomi Yauger Spearman. Her dad was born in 1856, Samuel Hiram Yauger "Hiram"; his dad, Samuel Hiram" was born in 1827 in Morris, NJ to Samuel Yauger-born 1798 (brother Jacob Yauger born 1799); their father, John Yauger was born in 1768 in Morris, NJ and buried with Jacob, John and more family in Wyandot Co., OH.

John (of 1768) died in 1840 and is buried in Terry Cemetery, Wyandot Co., OH. I know at that time there were Wyandot Indians also in the area. I don't have any record before this. Maybe a death certificate would have his parents. I'm laid off right now. Does anyone have any further information?

The John Yauger of my ancestry was born 1783 or 1784 in Pennsylvania. Your ancester John Yauger (1768) is not old enough to have been mine's father, and would likely not be his brother since that would make two children named John in the same family. My ancestry seems to be from a different line, the older generations before John I have not been able to find.

You asked about older generations of John Yauger (1768). This John does not seem to be a part of my Yauger line, and I have not done work on it. However, I have in the past been in contact with a David Burton who does descend from your Yaugers and who has done considerable work to figure them all out. Assuming that he has not changed his email address in the past two years, he can be contacted at dburton2@rochester.rr.com . He can most likely answer any questions you may have concerning the ancestry of John Yauger (1768). Thanks for contacting me.
