I'm not sure where this Jacob hails from just yet (i.e., which line in Schwenningen), but I keep running into him in Buffalo. Is anyone related to him or know about him?
He may be the Jacob Jauch on Cassy Street in the 1890 city directory.
I find him first in St. Peters German Evangelical church getting married:
On 2 Jun 1892 in Buffalo, NY, Jacob Jauch, born 26 August 1866 in Wurttemberg married Agnes Zapf, born 22 Jun 1872 in Bayern. Witnesses: Michael Bieber, Georg Hensel and Marg. Goldfuss.
I also find them in the 1910 census on 150 Gilbert Street, but he's changed the spelling of his name:
Jacob Yauch, 42, married 18 years, b. Germany, emigrated 1886; teamster at a butcher shop.
Agnes, wife, 37, b. Germany, 3 births, 3 living.
William R. Yauch, 17, b. NY
Dorothy H? Yauch, 16, b. NY
George Yauch, 6, b. NY
There should be baptisms for these kids in St. Peters, too, I would imagine (unless they moved churches).
In the 1920 census, Jacob and Agnes are on Bailey Avenue, living with their son George (15). Jacob is now a policeman for a "special foundry."
In the 1930 census, Jacob and Agnes are still alive, and their son William, now a foundry policyman, is living with them.
