Trying to find info on my grandfather, Vincent Yacko and my grandmother, Marie Novotny Yacko. Vincent was born in Spishek, Slovakia, 1879, and died in Yonkers, NY 06/18/1962. Marie was born in Austria-Hungary 08/13/1884 and died 12/24/1954. My mother, Anne Yacko Connors b 06/27/1916 d 04/21/2005, always talked about her Uncle Frank and cousin Barbara. Settled in PA, he was a coalminer and then moved to Yonkers NY for work in 1920's. Two of their eight children died in PA, Andrew and Catherine Anne. He had brothers in Yonkers, but I do not know their names. My grandfather always went by John Yacko - he did not like the name Vincent - until he had 2 grandkids, named Vincent, then he referred to his given name of Vincent. Both Vincent and Marie are buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers, N.Y. Marie spelled her last name Yaco and Vincent spelled it Yacko.
Thank you
Loretta Connors Hoar
