I have a Henry Yater born 1782, son of John who died in American Revolution in the same year. Could this be one of Henry Yaters children or nephews. I am related on a Cable branch from the Yater family... rsvp...thanks, Philip

After recieving your e-mail of today I do not believe we are of the same line of Yaters.
My line are all from Germany and settled in Garrard Co. Ky.
Guess we are close but no cigar.
Sorry I could not be of more assistance.

Philip,
Please send me the name of John's wife and parents and DOB'S if you have them. There must be some connection it is just escaping us at the moment.
My ancestors are buried in a very old cemetery which is now a part of someones farm around Lancaster where my Mother was born in 1905. My Henry was born in 1765.
He was married to Nancy McManus.
My grandparents were Henry Yater and Mary Elizabeth Pritchett Yater. They lived on Buckeye Pike three miles out of Lancaster and owned the general store there for many years.
There must be a connection hope we can find it.-----GloryB

Thats good news----- now if we can discover at what juncture we come together---- that would be great!!!!!
I have very little on the McManus line.
Thomas Yater was my ancestor, son of " old Henry"
I have been searching for his burial site forever with no luck.
It is said that he ,Thomas, had an argument with his wife and mounted his horse, she shouted at him" I don't care if you ever come back". He rode off in a huff and was struck by lightning and killed. I guess our generation didn't invent arguing huh? Nice to hear from you. Stay in touch.

Gloria,

I found your posting regarding the Yater family of Garrard Co. KY, and as I also am of that line, I was wondering if you have gotten any more answers to your questions?

Hi. I just discovered this week that William Henry Yater is my 4th great-grandfather. I had been blocked for years in finding the parents of America Jane Layton, daughter of Thomas Layton and Josephine McMillen, granddaughter of William Layton and Mary Ann Yater...and Mary Ann was William Henry Yater's daughter. If you need descendants information in that direction, please let me know. Otherwise, thanks so much for posting information about these ancestors...and I'm glad to meet new cousins!
