Lawrence Clinton Yaple, age 97,
a lifetime resident of Greene Twp., passed away on October 28, 2010, following a brief illness. He was born on December 24, 1912, in Erie co,pa,
to the late Anna Yaple Willis and Thomas C. Yaple. Lawrence "Larry" was a dairy farmer in Greene Twp. retiring in 1968. He took great pride in his community and had been a zoning board member in the past. He was also a retired school bus driver from Wattsburg Area School District. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Lawrence was a great father and devoted husband to his now deceased wife, Cecelia, to whom he was married 70 years. Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory three daughters; Geraldine Tomczak and her husband David of Erie, Judith Slike and her husband Irvin of Waterford and Janice Lane and her husband Eddie of Cerritos Calif., four sons; Thomas Yaple and his wife Diane of Waterford, Lawrence Yaple Jr. and his wife Connie of Erie, Ronald Yaple and his wife Carolyn and John "Jack" Yaple and his wife Brenda all of Waterford, sister Millicent Barney Snyder of Erie and a sister-in-law Marion Brainard and her husband Murray of Erie,
24 grandchildren,
24 great-grandchildren,
three great-great-grandchildren,
and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents
he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Cecelia
and a grandson Jeff Tomczak. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd. (corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave.) on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to a prayer service there on Tuesday morning at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount of Olives Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to any of the following; Second Harvest Food Bank, 1507 Grimm Dr. Erie, 16501, Kuhl Hose Fire Dept., 3131 Rescue Lane, Erie, 16510, or the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation 130 W. 8th.
