Johnny Earl Yancey, 88, of 645 East 1st Street, Newton, NC died Monday, June 24, 2002 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Born March 27, 1914 in Burke County, he was the son of the late Joe and Ida Chapman Yancey.
He was retired from Klopman Mills in Newton and was a member of the VFW. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

3 sons & daughters-in-law: Billy and Faye Yancey of Newton, NC
Jimmy and Patricia Yancey of Maiden, NC
Johnny and Freida Yancey of Maiden, NC
A daughter: Frances Helms of Newton, NC
10 Grandchildren
11 Great Grandchildren
a brother: Clem Yancey of Vale, NC
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton. The Rev. Benny Manning will officiate and burial will be in the Eastview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Timmy Yancey, Danny Yancey, Ronnie Helms, Mark Yancey, Larry Yancey and Jimmy Yancey, Jr.
