Yancy Service Held Thursday At Sarepta
Rufus Elzy Yancy, 71 of Sarepta, died at his home at Sarepta Wednesday, July 5, 1972. Born Sept. 18, 1900, the son of R.A. Yancy and Mattie Leachman Yancy, he was a retired sawyer.
Services were held at Sarepta Baptist Church at 3 Thursday with Rev. John McMillen and Rev. Lajoyce Busby officiating. Burial was in Sarepta cemetery with Antony Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Andrew Edwards, Andy Edwards, Thomas Morrow, Tony Wayne Yancy, Herman Castleberry and Charles Cain.
Honorary pallbearers were Glen Wilson, Melvin Freeman, J.W. McGregory, Wayne Warren, Charles Cain, Robert E. Leachman, A.H. Edwards, Grafton Edwards, Elwood Edwards, Buddy Massey, Wade Massey, Truman Massey, Albert Ferguson, W.H. Hankins, Willie Quarles, Cliff Easley Jr., Arthur Coston, Earnest White, Farris Green, Joe Grist, David Bailey.
Mr. Edwards leaves his wife Mrs. Lola Edwards Yancy of Sarepta; a daughter, Mrs. Brenda Winter, Bruce; and a grandchild.
