Billy Wayne Yancey
RIPLEY - Billy Wayne Yancey, 60, died Monday, March 20, 2006, at his home. He was retired from Oil-Dri Industries, where he was a team leader. He was a charter member of the Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Board of Directors of the Mitchell Water Association for more than 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was interested in community development.
Services were Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at McBride Funeral Home Chapel. Minister Patrick Chapman officiated, and Minister Mark Lindley assisted. Burial was in Rucker Cemetery in Ripley.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Shackelford Yancey of Ripley; two sons, Edward Allen Yancey and wife, Karen, and David Wayne Yancey, all of Ripley; two grandchildren, Logan Shane Yancey and Evan Wayne Yancey of Ripley; his mother-in-law, Beatrice Shackelford of Ripley; two sisters-in-law, Carol S. Hurt of Ripley, and Jane S. Bell and husband, Archie L. Bell, of Walnut; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Randolph and Beatrice Carmichael Yancey, and his father-in-law, Lloyd M. Shackelford.
Pallbearers were Lane Bell, Mitchell Hurt, Kelly Hurt, Ray Henderson, Larry Wood, Barry Yancey and Cory Henry.
Honorary pallbearers were the Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department and the Board of Directors of the Mitchell Water Association, Archie Bell and Jerry Robbins, and his grandsons, Logan Shane Yancey and Evan Wayne Yancey.
