Would like to know if there is any Yancer's doing Yancer genealogy.

John, I am searching Yancer/Yencer (and Yenser in the early days). Perhaps you and I have already communicated. My branches are in New York, Ohio, and Michigan primarily. There are several Civil War soldiers and one sailor. GB

Dear Mary Lee, I received your message, and will help you if I can. At first glance of my collection of information, I do not see a Charles Elmer Yencer. Do you know what his father's name was? I have a Charles H. but that branch of the was located in Indiana. I also have an Emer Yencer but he was located in New York State. In fact, I had met him and talked to him, but he was unable to give me any real information on the rest of the family, only on his brother.
For the most part, all the Yencers came thru Pennsylvania. There are many different spellings of the last name. In general, the "Yenser's", were primarily located in Pennsylvania. Those early families that relocated to other states quite often had their name spelled in a number of different ways. The "Yancers" were located in New York, Ohio, and Michigan. The "Yencers", in New York , Ohio, and Indiana. The "Yentzers" were in Pennsylvania.
I do not have a lot of Yenser material. The Jenser and Jentzer spellings were very early and I only know that the very early family spelled their name that way. I have not been following the Yenser spelling. Even though I haven't, I do have a little of that information and will send it to you if that is what you are looking for. Let me know. I would need your mailing address. My project is tracking down the Yencer and Yancer relatives that I know are descended from Samuel Yencer who was born about1782 and died on March 10, 1851, in Mt. Morris, New York. George

Re: Yancer/Yencer surname
I am beginning research for the Yencer's. I was wondering if you had any information that may be of help to me. My grandfather, Foster R. Yencer was born in Jan. 1898 in Marsailles, OH. He died in Richmond, IN in 1966. He had 6 children: Kerry A, Foster R, Thomas R, Charles, Jacqueline R, Charles E, and Gladys A. Foster R Yencer Jr. is my father and was born in Richmond, IN Nov 1938. Any help would be great!

Re: Yancer/Yencer surname
I am doing research on Charles Volney Yencer. He married Mary Maynard. They had a son Stephen Yencer who was born 31 May 1873 in Mt Morris, NY. He married Sarah Ayers Ackerman. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Yancer/Yencer surname
You mentioned that you are looking for information on Charles Volney Yencer. My research shows that he was born 3 April 1820 to Samuel (Yancy) Yencer and Catherine (last name unknown), in Fruitstown, PA and died in Perry, New York on 3 April 1910. His first wife was Hannah Theodocia Hayward whose father was Elisha Hayward and mother Mary Brace. His second wife was Martha Ann Shirtleff who was born 13 April 1857 in Byersville, NY and was married on 23 March 1876 in Mt. Morris, NY. She died 22 October 1934 in Warsaw, NY. Her father was Zacheus Shirtleff and mother Fanny Blake.
Charles had 7 children and Stephen Tracey Yencer was the 4th. He was born 31 May 1873 in Mt. Morris, NY and died 2 Mar 1857 in Perry, NY. Stephen had 6 children of which the 6th was Helen Catherine Yencer. She married Kenneth John Lakin, Sr. on 21 February 1931 in Avon, NY. Helen and Kenneth had three children but I do not see a Pam Lakin in my data base. The only "Pam" that comes close is Connie Pamela Yencer who was born 20 October 1956 in Batavia, NY. You aren't that person are you? Let me know how you fit in or why you are researching Charles Volney. My Yencer branch is through Benjamin Yencer, brother of Charles Volney Yencer. I have published 7 family history hard bound books on my family and my wife's and I'm very close to publishing a book on the Yencers in the Civil War. Following that book will be the Yancer/Yencer family history book.
