I am currently working on my "Yamashiro" family tree and am having some difficulty with some ancestors. I am supposedly, the thirteenth generation of a Yamashiro clan from Okinawa. My grandmother's maiden name was Hanashiro. My grandparents moved from Okinawa to Kaneohe, HI. I am trying to find info on the brothers and sisters of my grandparents who probably all resided in Okinawa. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. I will try to help anyone else who is trying to trace their heritage. e-mail is fine.

My mother's name is Setsuko Hanashiro. She is an Okinawan living in the US. I have been looking for information regarding her family. If I can help or if you can offer assistance,-let me know. Thank you.

Candice~
Was Hanashiro your mother's maiden name or married name? If it is her married name, what was/is the name of your father? Hope we can assist each other.

dear mary yamashiro - my mother is sally yamashiro tamanaha.if you are related to her i might be able to help. her family tree goes back to the fifty-first(?) emperor of japan. i haven't seen the tree for several years so i'm not sure of numbers. yamashiro is japanese not okinawan. the story goes that the clan was exiled to okinawa for some political reason and became high class farmers.my mother's branch migrated to oahu and farmed. they lived in kahalu and kaneohe.higa and shiroma are some relatives in hawaii and mainland. some place way back there's russian mixed in. if you have any questions email me. i hope i get it. haven't worked the bugs out of my email system. don't send attachments. it does not like them. wayne tamanaha

Dear Wayne:
Thank you very much for replying to my posted message. I haven't yet had time to look as I was so excited just to receive your post. My ancestors and family on my father's side were farmers in Okinawa, often winning prizes for their swine. My aunt married a Shiroma and the Higa family. They are in HI. Please e-mail me @ iluvmybaybeez@earthlink.net I would love to receive more information and figure how we might be related. Thank you!

Hello...
I am interested in the last name Hanashiro.
My son's father his name is Damon Tomotsu Olson his mom is from Okinawa and he has not had contact with her since he was a young boy.
Her first name is Hiroao and was married to Hugh Olson.

Hugh Olson now lives in Washington State and so does Damon.

I am trying to find Hiroao Hanashiro... any info?

Carmen,
I don't think there is anyone in our line of the Hanashiro family that has the name beginning with Hiroao. Are you certain of the name and spelling? I will have to dig out my tree and review it and I will post a message again to let you know what I found. Please be patient with me as I am very busy. Thank you.

Hi Mary..
I might have miss spelled the first name of Ms Hanashiro,
I believe it could be Hiroko.
Thanks for looking into your family tree.

Carmen,
Do you know what year she was born? The Hanashiro tree that I have is very limited, but it might help with a lead. I don't have her name, Hiroko, on our family tree, but it doesn't mean that she is not related because she just might be. Let me know her DOB and I will give you the names that I have that might lead you to find her...
Thanks,
Mary

Hello Mary,
Thanks for trying to help out. I asked Damon if he knew his mothers DOB but he does not know. Over the weekend I will find out what Hiroko's parents name are/were. Other then that I don't know if I will get any where with this.

Thanks for your help again,
Carmen
