Surnames: Yamada
My maiden name was Yamada .My father was Gary Masaru K. Yamada. He came from a family of 11 brother's and sisters.
Their father Kiichi Yamada went to Hawaii around 1918.His father went some years earlier. Well, here is a mystery that maybe someone out there knows of .

My grandfather's younger brother's name was Chuuichi . He migrated with his brother on the urging of thier father to go work and help the family financially. So they were taken there by Hatsutaro Yamada (would be my great grandfather) to work.

Now, the mystery is this. Chuuichi was working for a rich white couple who used him as their houseboy.Eventually, they left Hawaii and took him with them to the U.S. Mainland to neer be heard from again.

The time frame would be between the years 1918 -1990's should he have lived so long. He would have been born after 1898 because that was teh year my grandfather was born. They were about 3 years apart take or give a year.

Grandpa didn't know how to search for him as his English was limited as well as he was in an internment camp in WW ll that he thought possible his brother could have been either dead or prison or in the War itself. Either way, Kiichi did make contact to Japan to find that their parents had died in the War. That only the youngest was alive with her family.

They also had heard nothing about him. I just finished a trip to Kumamoto and met the remaining relatives there.

So if anyone knows of this please contact me. It just would be something to in their stead to reconnect the family even if only by e-mails and pictures.I know I for would for one, love to know what happen to him.

Nancy K. (Yamada) Omi

P.S.
I live in Tokyo,Japan married to a japanese businessman.
